Multi-Skilled Service Technician & Operator (Filter Driver / Kitchen Exhaust / Washbay)
Employment Type: Casual (2–3 days per week initially)
Growth Potential: Opportunity to transition into a part-time position upon successful completion of a 3-month probationary period and review.
We are seeking a motivated, dynamic, and versatile Multi-Skilled Service Technician & Operator to join our growing team. This is a hands-on, jack-of-all-trades role where no two days are quite the same. You will rotate across essential areas of our operations—including driving and servicing filter exchanges, hands-on commercial kitchen exhaust cleaning, and maintaining washbay operations.
If you are a self-starter who thrives on learning new skills, enjoys talking to clients, and takes real pride in personal development and problem-solving, this is the perfect opportunity to build a diverse career path with us.
Key Responsibilities
- Versatile Operations: Adapt seamlessly across three core service areas—Filter Driving/Exchange routes, Commercial Kitchen Exhaust Cleaning (rangehoods, ductwork, fans), and Washbay component processing.
- Client Engagement & Sales Opportunities: Act as a brand ambassador on-site. Build strong rapport with clients, address questions professionally, and actively look for new service or upselling opportunities while on customer premises.
- Team & Out-of-Hours Communication: Maintain clear, proactive communication with management, peers, and clients. Be accessible for in-the-moment problem-solving both during shifts and through direct communication outside core hours when needed.
- On-Site Execution & Safety: Perform thorough, high-standard cleaning and filter exchanges while strictly upholding all OH&S regulations and company standards.
- Documentation & Digital Reporting: Utilize iPads and desktops to accurately complete service reports, upload photos, log customer feedback, and record daily operational checks.
- Equipment & Yard Care: Ensure service vehicles, washbay facilities, and specialized cleaning equipment are safely operated, well-maintained, and kept in clean working order.
Essential Skills & Characteristics
- Growth Mindset & Curiosity: A genuine desire to learn multiple job functions, take on new technical challenges, and continuously invest in your own personal and professional development.
- Strong Communication Skills: Fluent, approachable, and articulate verbal and written communication skills—capable of conversing confidently with restaurant managers, facility owners, and internal teams.
- Sales Awareness: An observant eye for identifying client needs, potential equipment upgrades, or additional service opportunities on-site.
- Adaptability & Work Ethic: Willingness to work a flexible schedule across both day and night shifts depending on operational needs and client access windows.
- Technological Literacy: Comfortable using iPads, mobile apps, and computers for field reporting and internal communication.
- Driver’s License: Valid manual driver’s license with a clean driving record.
Desirable Skills & Qualifications
- Previous experience in kitchen exhaust cleaning, vehicle/equipment washing, route delivery driving, or general trade maintenance.
- Basic understanding of commercial kitchen operations or building facilities services.
- Relevant site tickets or checks (e.g., Working at Heights, Police Check, WWCC).
- Residence within 50km of the Frankston, Carrum Downs, and Seaford areas is preferred.
What We Offer
- Competitive Pay: Above-award pay rate reflecting the versatile and adaptable skill set you bring to our team.
- Genuine Career Growth & Upskilling: We prioritize internal advancement. We actively fund and support training for technicians eager to expand their capabilities across technical cleaning, sales, and operational leadership.
- Clear Path to Permanent Roles: Starting at 2–3 days per week, we offer clear opportunities for expanded hours and full-time security after passing your 3-month probation.
- Dynamic Work Environment: Variety in your day-to-day routine across driving, customer interaction, specialized cleaning, and workshop/washbay duties.
- Supportive Team Culture: A collaborative environment where open communication, proactive problem-solving, and personal achievement are recognized and rewarded.
