About the Role

We are seeking a qualified Substation Electrician to undertake corrective, preventative maintenance and renewal works across the electrical substation network. This role plays a critical part in ensuring the safe, reliable operation of electrical network assets, with all work undertaken in accordance with relevant standards, safety requirements, and Metro Trains policies.

Key Responsibilities

Carry out construction, inspection, maintenance, renewal, and upgrade works on substation electrical network assets.
Perform high-voltage operations and switching activities, including issuing permits.
Respond to and rectify electrical network faults, completing root cause analysis and timely repairs.
Accurately record and report faults, defects, and completed works in line with reporting requirements.
Operate vehicles, specialised mobile plant, small plant, and elevated work platforms, ensuring equipment is maintained and safe to use.
Conduct supporting activities to other Infra, Project and 3rd parties as a Substation Safety Observer
Undertake Track Force Protection Coordinator (TFPC) safe working duties and maintain safe worksites at all times.
Support efficient delivery of works through planning activities, site housekeeping, and adherence to OH&S standards and procedures.

About You

Licensed A‑Grade Electrician with demonstrated electrical network and substation experience.
Strong knowledge of high-voltage rules, rail safety requirements, and occupational health and safety legislation.
Qualified in elevated work platforms, First Aid and CPR, and safe work practices in construction.
Hold a Medium Rigid (MR) Driver’s Licence and current TTSA Level 1 certification.
Proven ability to read and interpret technical drawings, plans, and specifications.
Good written and verbal communication skills with strong attention to detail.
Flexible to work shift-based rosters, including nights, weekends, overtime, and emergency call-outs.
