We are seeking an experienced and motivated Project Manager to join our Major Projects team and lead the delivery of strategic transformation initiatives that support improved service delivery, operational efficiency and government priorities across the Directorate.
About the team
The Major Projects team delivers complex projects and change initiatives across CED. Working collaboratively with business stakeholders, technical specialists, suppliers and government agencies, the team drives the successful delivery of projects that create lasting value for government and the Canberra community.
About the role
As the Assistant Director, Project Manager, you will operate with a high degree of independence and contribute to the leadership of the Major Projects team. You will lead multiple projects and initiatives, working across business areas and with stakeholders across government to achieve successful outcomes.
You will:

Lead the delivery of complex projects and strategic initiatives.

Manage project scope, schedules, risks, issues and dependencies.

Build strong relationships with stakeholders, vendors and project teams.

Provide high-quality reporting, advice and project documentation.

Lead multidisciplinary teams and foster a collaborative delivery culture.

Support effective governance and decision-making through timely and accurate project reporting.

Eligibility/ Other Requirements:

Qualifications in project management, business, public sector management or related disciplines will be highly regarded.

Demonstrated experience delivering complex projects within government environments will be an advantage.
Note: This is a temporary position available for a period of 18 months with the possibility of extension. A Merit Pool will be established from this selection process and will be used to fill vacancies over the next 12 months. Selection may be based on application and referee reports only. This position is based in Dickson and operates under hybrid working arrangements. The successful applicant is expected to attend the office a minimum of two days per week. This position may involve direct supervision of staff.
