About Us

We are a busy and well-established restaurant specialising in authentic Indian cuisine. We pride ourselves on delivering traditional flavors with high-quality ingredients and excellent customer service.

Position Overview

We are seeking an experienced and passionate Indian Cuisine Cook to join our team. The ideal candidate will have strong knowledge of traditional cooking techniques, spices, and regional dishes. The ideal candidate should have extensive experience in Indian cuisine and will be responsible for upholding our high standards of food quality and presentation.

Key Responsibilities

Prepare and cook authentic Indian and Nepalese dishes (curries, tandoori items, biryani, etc.)
Manage kitchen operations during service
Ensure food quality, taste, and presentation standards are met
Maintain hygiene and food safety standards
Assist with menu planning and development
Monitor stock levels and place orders when required

Requirements

Minimum 2–3 years of experience in Indian cuisine
Manage all aspects of the tandoori and curry section from food preparation to staff training
Prepare a range of meals using traditional Indian flavours and techniques
Review and develop menu items to offer seasonal variations
Planning weekly production, estimating food and material costs, checking and ordering stock as required
Preparing vegetarian and Non Vegetarian meals and curries
Strong knowledge of traditional spices and cooking techniques
Creating authentic Indian spice mixes and marinades
Experience with tandoor cooking (preferred)
Making doughs to create a variety of tandoori bread
Cook food by marinating and cooking in the tandoor, baking or grilling
Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment
Monitor and implement quality control measures to ensure food is prepared efficiently and of consistent quality.
Delegating tasks to junior staff, supervising and demonstrating cooking techniques
Review and adjust recipes for authentic Indian marinades and sauces
Supporting the Head Chef in management of the kitchen including staffing, budget control, liaison with the front of house staff
Ensuring compliance with all health, safety and hygiene standards in the kitchen
Report all equipment breakdowns or failures to management
Relevant culinary qualifications Certificate IV in commercial cookery
Order supplies to stock inventory appropriately
