About the Opportunity
We are seeking an experienced and strategic Procurement Manager to play a key leadership role in delivering procurement excellence across ASC's Submarine Sustainment Programs. This position offers the opportunity to influence critical business outcomes through strategic sourcing, category management, contract management and supplier engagement within a complex and highly regulated defence environment.
Reporting to the Head of Procurement, you will lead the development and execution of procurement strategies that support ASC's operational and sovereign capability objectives. You will work closely with internal stakeholders, suppliers and industry partners to drive commercial outcomes, manage procurement risk, strengthen supplier relationships and ensure procurement activities are delivered in line with governance and compliance requirements.
Based in Henderson, Western Australia, this role leads a team of procurement professionals and is responsible for building a high-performing procurement function that delivers value, supports program success and contributes to ASC's long-term strategic goals.
Responsibilities
- Lead the execution of procurement and supply chain strategies across ASC's Multi Class Services programs.
- Develop and implement category management, sourcing and subcontract management plans.
- Manage complex contract establishment, negotiation and ongoing contract performance.
- Drive procurement governance, compliance and reporting activities.
- Identify, assess and mitigate procurement and supply chain risks.
- Build and maintain strong relationships with suppliers, government stakeholders and internal business partners.
- Lead, coach and develop a high-performing procurement team.
- Champion continuous improvement initiatives to enhance procurement processes, systems and performance.
- Ensure procurement activities align with sovereign capability and enterprise supply chain objectives.
About you
You are a strategic procurement leader with extensive experience operating in complex commercial environments. You bring strong commercial acumen, exceptional stakeholder engagement skills and a proven ability to lead teams and deliver results.
- Tertiary qualification in Commerce, Law, Supply Chain or a related discipline.
- CIPS qualification (or equivalent postgraduate qualification).
- Minimum 10 years' experience in a senior supply chain or procurement role within defence, manufacturing, resources or similarly complex industries.
- Demonstrated expertise in major contract negotiations, contract establishment and contract management.
- Strong knowledge of procurement law, commercial risk, intellectual property, warranties and insurance considerations.
- Proven project management capability and a commitment to ethical and transparent procurement practices.
- Experience using procurement technologies, e-tendering platforms and contract management systems.
- Strong leadership skills, with the capability to inspire and guide team members while fostering a high-performance culture.
- Excellent communication skills, with the ability to influence and engage stakeholders at all levels of the organisation.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving capabilities to resolve complex procurement and contract management challenges.
- Balances customer focus with strategic thinking, developing procurement and category strategies that deliver long-term value for internal and external stakeholders.
Eligibility
This role requires a current National Police Clearance, an Australian Defence Security Clearance and an ability to access protected US defence technology. Your eligibility for this role is dependent on you obtaining and maintaining such clearances and approvals.
