Full Job Description

We are seeking an experienced and technically capable Electrical Engineer to join our growing engineering team in Sydney. The role will focus on the design, testing, certification, maintenance, and compliance of LV/HV electrical systems across industrial, infrastructure, switchgear, and electric vehicle applications.

The successful candidate will bring strong experience in electrical engineering design, product validation, compliance with Australian and international standards, and hands-on involvement with LV/HV systems, switchboards, control gear, and electric vehicle technologies. This role will suit an engineer with strong technical problem-solving skills, regulatory knowledge, and the ability to manage projects across testing, certification, and operational delivery.

Key Responsibilities

Design, develop, and maintain LV/HV electrical systems and infrastructure.
Support electrical engineering activities across switchgear, control panels, distribution boards, and EV systems.
Develop and review electrical drawings, wiring diagrams, and technical documentation.
Conduct testing, commissioning, diagnostics, and preventive maintenance activities.
Ensure compliance with Australian Standards including AS3000, AS3008, and AS/NZS 61439.
Support product certification and regulatory compliance activities for IEC/EN and Australian standards.
Manage electrical testing programs, validation processes, and root cause investigations.
Coordinate with certification bodies, suppliers, contractors, and stakeholders to support approvals and project delivery.
Assist with Battery Management Systems (BMS), telematics integration, DC-DC chargers, and EV electrical systems where required.
Participate in risk assessments, DFMEA/PFMEA activities, and safety reviews.
Support continuous improvement initiatives relating to engineering quality, reliability, and operational performance.
Maintain accurate technical records, reports, and compliance documentation.
Provide technical support during audits, inspections, and customer engagements.

Role Requirements

Essential Requirements

Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or Electrical & Electronics Engineering.
Minimum 8–10 years’ experience in electrical engineering roles involving LV/HV systems.
Strong understanding of electrical switchgear, control gear, switchboards, and distribution systems.
Experience with electrical testing, validation, and certification processes.
Knowledge of Australian and international electrical standards including:
AS3000
AS3008
AS/NZS 61439
IEC/EN 60947 series
IEC/EN 61439 series
Experience with electrical protection devices and power distribution systems.
Strong troubleshooting and diagnostic capability.
Experience with ISO 17025, laboratory testing, or compliance environments.
Ability to read and interpret electrical schematics and technical drawings.
Strong stakeholder communication and project coordination skills.
Full working rights in Australia.

Desirable Skills & Experience

Experience in electric vehicle (EV) systems, electric buses, or battery technologies.
Exposure to HV battery systems, telematics integration, and DC-DC chargers.
Experience working with certification bodies such as DEKRA, UL, KEMA, or similar.
Familiarity with ETAP, LabVIEW, or electrical simulation/testing software.
Experience managing testing laboratories or compliance projects.
Chartered Engineer status or Engineers Australia accreditation.
Exposure to EMI/EMC testing and electrical safety standards.
Experience with DFMEA/PFMEA methodologies.
Project management experience within engineering or testing environments.
