Inventory Controller
Edinburgh, SA
About the opportunity
We're looking for a capable and forward-thinking Material Management Specialist to join our Edinburgh-based Material Management Team, supporting the MC-55A program. This role is all about keeping our BDS spares and Repairable Items pipelines flowing smoothly and ensuring procurement and repair induction activities are delivered on time and in line with contractual expectations.
You'll work closely with the Team Lead MC-55A Supply Chain to help shape Annual Procurement Plans, Annual Maintenance Plans and associated budgets. You'll also support optimisation reviews of Repairable Items and contribute to workshops and activities that drive our AAP strategy and Management Objectives.
If you're someone who thrives on solving problems, building strong relationships and managing the moving parts of a complex supply chain, this is a role where you can have real impact.
About the role
As the Inventory Controller, you will work closely with a large and inclusive team of technical experts focused on success.
Reporting to the Team Lead MC-55A Supply Chain, some of your day-to-day activities will include:
- Manage effective spares pipelines for BDS spares and Repairable Items.
- Liaise with suppliers and customers to resolve BDS-related issues.
- Contribute to performance reporting, KPI management and supply-chain data analysis.
- Support contract management activities for BDS and Repairable Items.
- Conduct reviews of individual BDS components and Repairable Items.
- Participate in preparedness reviews, studies and planning.
- Conduct procurement activities and repair inductions to support the S&R program.
- Maintain high-quality data across MILIS, SAP, Objective and other relevant systems, including supporting data purification activities.
- Assist in the execution of AAP strategy and contribute to team Management Objectives.
About you
You'll thrive in this role if you're someone who enjoys being part of a high-performing, collaborative team and can keep things moving even when the pace picks up. You're confident working with suppliers, stakeholders and customers, and you communicate clearly-whether you're writing a report, tackling a tricky issue or keeping everyone aligned.
The skills and experience best suited to this role include:
- Spares & Procurement Expertise: Experience managing spares pipelines and coordinating procurement or repair induction activities (familiarity with DCS & FMS is a plus).
- Relationship Management: Great at building strong working relationships and navigating stakeholder conversations with confidence.
- Clear Communication: Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to work comfortably to tight deadlines.
- Problem Solving: Strong analytical skills with the ability to step in, resolve high-level service issues, and unblock critical AOG situations.
- Systems Knowledge: Exposure to Defence ERP/SAP systems and continuous improvement principles. Knowing Defence supply environments and the Electronic Supply Chain Manual is highly regarded.
- Core Commitment: A demonstrated commitment to safety, quality and customer satisfaction.
