THE POSITION:
Fairfield City Council is seeking a capable and motivated Project Manager / Design Manager (Architecture) to join its City Delivery team and contribute to the delivery of a high-profile portfolio of community infrastructure projects.
We are seeking a professional with experience across both architecture/design management and project management, capable of leading projects through the full project lifecycle from feasibility and concept design through procurement, construction and handover.
We welcome applications from Architects, Senior Architects and Design Managers who have transitioned into project management, as well as Project Managers with substantial design management experience gained in architecture or the built environment.
You will play a key role in shaping projects from early planning through to delivery, working closely with internal stakeholders, consultants and external agencies.
You will be responsible for managing several key projects within a major community precinct, while also supporting a broader portfolio of civic, community, cultural and events infrastructure projects.
This is a genuine hybrid Project and Design Management role, requiring the successful candidate to lead design development while also managing procurement, contract administration, construction delivery and project governance.
The ideal candidate will have commenced their career in architecture or design management before progressing into project management, enabling them to confidently lead both the design process and project delivery.
ESSENTIAL:
- Degree qualification in Architecture, Construction Management, Project Management or a related discipline.
- Demonstrated experience working as an Architect, Senior Architect or Design Manager with responsibility for coordinating and managing the design process.
- Demonstrated experience managing capital works projects as a Project Manager for a developer, project management consultancy, builder or government organisation.
- Demonstrated experience delivering projects across the full project lifecycle, including feasibility, design development, procurement, construction and handover.
- Experience managing a diverse range of building and/or civil infrastructure projects.
- Sound knowledge of procurement, tendering, contract administration and consultant management.
- Demonstrated ability to manage project scope, programme, budget, risk and quality outcomes.
- Demonstrated ability to manage multiple complex projects concurrently.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Project and Microsoft Office.
- Excellent written, verbal and stakeholder management skills
DESIRABLE
- Experience delivering projects within a local government environment.
- Experience managing community, civic, cultural, sporting or public domain projects.
SALARY & EMPLOYMENT CONDITIONS:
- Temporary position for a period of 12 months, 70 hours per fortnight
- This position is a Grade 9, salary range is $130,224 p.a. with progression to $140,236 p.a. on demonstrated competencies, with performance progression to $152,541 p.a, plus 12% Super
