This is a unique opportunity for you to work in the initial development of school processes for a foundation secondary school, growing one year level each year from Year 7 in 2024 to Year 12 in 2029.

The Careers & Pathways Coordinator is responsible for leading and coordinating the College's careers and pathways program, ensuring students from Years 7¿12 are supported to make informed decisions about their education, training and future career pathways.
About You

Careers Education and Student Pathways

Coordinate and administer the College's careers education program, including the implementation of Career Action Plans and My Career Portfolio for students from Year 7 onwards.

Organise and manage Morrisby Online career assessments and counselling for Year 9 students, working closely with external career counsellors.

Develop and co-ordinate delivery of the career development program for students based on the Victorian Career Curriculum framework

Provide individual and group careers counselling to students, parents and families, supporting informed subject selection and pathway planning across Years 9¿12.

Support students with post-school planning, including university, TAFE, apprenticeships, traineeships, employment and other education or training opportunities.
Subject Selection and Senior Pathways

Coordinate and manage subject selection processes for students transitioning into Years 10, 11 and 12.

Organise Subject Selection Day, coordinate staff professional learning for course counselling, and provide guidance to students and families throughout the selection process.

Present careers and pathway information at year level assemblies, parent forums and information evenings.

Manage the Year 9 into 10 Careers and Subject Selection Expo and coordinate careers-related events that support student decision-making.
Year 12 and Post-School Transitions

Support Year 12 students through all aspects of their post-school planning, including VTAC applications, SEAS, scholarship applications and Change of Preference.

Provide advice regarding tertiary pathways, apprenticeships, employment opportunities and alternative pathways after school.

Assist students with applications for scholarships, university early entry programs, TAFE courses and apprenticeship opportunities.

Track and monitor student destinations after leaving school and maintain accurate transition data to meet Department of Education reporting requirements.
Career Development Programs and Industry Engagement

Coordinate work experience, structured workplace learning, careers expos, university and TAFE visits, guest speakers, trade tasters and other careers-related excursions and incursions.

Build and maintain strong partnerships with universities, TAFEs, employers, industry groups and external organisations to expand pathway opportunities for students.

Represent the College on external networks and professional forums, including careers practitioner groups, LLEN, VET clusters and university advisory groups.
Student Support and Administration

Support students at risk of disengaging from their learning and support them by collaborating with Head of House, wellbeing staff, teachers, and external agencies to coordinate referrals and develop appropriate pathway plans.

Assist students with résumé preparation, job applications, interview skills and general career readiness.

Manage exemptions, exits and pathway documentation, ensuring accurate record keeping and compliance with Department requirements.

Maintain the Careers section of the College website, Google Site, newsletters and other communication channels to ensure students and families receive current careers information.

This is a full time position, working 5 days per week. Working hours are 8.30am to 4.36pm including a 30 minute unpaid lunch break.

About Us
Yarrabing Secondary College opened in Term 1 2024 and provides the growing local population with great educational opportunities close to home. In 2026 Yarrabing Secondary College had a student population of 680 students in Year 7, 8 & 9. The college will progressively grow by one year level thereafter. In 2027, we will have Year 7, Year 8, Year 9 and Year 10 students only. In 2027 it is anticipated that there will be provision of a small number of VCE studies to its accelerated Year 10 students that the college is currently in the process of accrediting for. By 2029, the college will provide an extensive senior school offering to its senior students of traditional VCE subjects, as well as VM, VPC and VET.
Yarrabing Secondary College is located 29 kilometres west of Melbourne, in the suburb of Aintree. When fully established in 2029, the school is anticipated to have 1400 students enrolled from Year 7 to 12 and 130 school staff members.
Our school grounds are close to planned parklands, sporting facilities, and we are surrounded by a supportive community. Most students that will attend our school live locally and would tend to walk or ride their bike to school.
