Your Role at the Birth Centre
As a Clinical Midwife within the Birth Centre at Lyell McEwin Health Service, you'll provide evidence-based, woman-centred care across the full scope of midwifery practice in a supported low-risk birth environment. Working as part of a committed and collaborative team within the Northern Adelaide Local Health Network (NALHN), your key responsibilities will include:
Providing autonomous, holistic midwifery care during labour, birth, and the immediate postnatal period
Supporting informed decision-making for women and their families in alignment with their birth preferences
Collaborating effectively with the broader maternity and obstetric team when clinical escalation is required
Contributing to a culture of safety, respect, and continuous quality improvement across the Birth Centre
What You'll Bring
Current registration as a Midwife with the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA)
Demonstrated experience in intrapartum care, including normal birth and recognised emergency management
Sound understanding of the philosophy and model of care underpinning Birth Centre practice
Strong interpersonal skills and confidence working within a multidisciplinary team environment
Familiarity with SA Health clinical frameworks, policies, and documentation standards
Ability to work rotating shifts in a part-time capacity, including nights and weekends
To be eligible for this position, you must be Registered or eligible for registration as a Midwife with the Nursing and Midwifery Board of Australia and who holds, or who is eligible to hold, a current practicing certificate

In this role you will have strong interpersonal and communication skills which will enable you to successfully problem solve, resolve conflicts and negotiate, including the ability to engage in difficult conversations, whilst building and maintaining relationships. An ability to effectively manage multiple, diverse and competing priorities and demonstrated resilience within a stressful and complex environment is essential to this role.
