The Opportunity:
As Sephora's Financial Accountant, you will oversee the end-to-end accounting functions, including the maintenance of the General Ledger for the Company’s ANZ operations, balance sheet management process as well as other statutory reporting requirements.

Reporting

Support accurate and timely month-end reporting across Sephora ANZ, including journal review, general ledger activity, accruals, prepayments and other accounting adjustments.

Review financial information, balance sheet reconciliations and monthly P&L results to ensure completeness, accuracy and data integrity.

Identify unusual transactions, coding issues, variances, risks and areas requiring further investigation or adjustment.

Prepare analysis, insights and supporting information for local, regional and global reporting, forecasting, working capital and cash flow requirements.
Tax & Compliance
-
Prepare Australian BAS and New Zealand GST returns, including reconciliations, supporting schedules and documentation.

Support broader corporate tax and compliance requirements across ANZ, working with internal stakeholders, Shared Services and external advisors as required.
Audit
-
Support external, Group and internal audit requirements across Sephora ANZ.

Prepare audit schedules, PBC documentation, reconciliations and responses to audit queries in line with agreed timelines.
Vendor, Shared Services & Balance Sheet Management
-
Partner with the Regional Shared Service Centre across General Ledger, Accounts Payable and Accounts Receivable processes to support accurate month-end close and issue resolution.

Review balance sheet accounts, reconciling items and transaction coding to ensure expenditure is recorded accurately and in the correct reporting period.
Cost control

Support financial control, reporting and analysis across below-margin operating expenses, including corporate costs, marketing, shrinkage and visual merchandising.

Analyse expenditure, variances, cost trends, cash flow forecasts and capital expenditure against approved budgets and forecasts.
Budgeting and forecasting

Provide historical data, financial analysis and supporting information to assist with forecasting and actual versus budget/forecast reviews.

Partner with key stakeholders, including Marketing, Human Resources and Retail Operations, to investigate material variances and support informed decision-making.
Reporting Line
-
The Financial Accountant will report directly to the Finance & Business Controlling Manager ANZ.
We would love to hear from you if you have:

CA or CPA qualified, with tertiary qualifications in Commerce, Business, Finance, Accounting, Economics or a related discipline.

Minimum 5 years' relevant accounting and finance experience (Retail, FMCG or another high-volume multi-site environment highly desirable).

Strong technical accounting experience across month-end close, general ledger review, balance sheet reconciliations, accruals, financial reporting, financial controls and audits.

Exposure to BAS, GST, CAPEX, fixed asset accounting and audit PBC preparation is highly regarded.

Advanced Microsoft Excel and SAP experience, with the ability to analyse, reconcile and validate large financial data sets.

Strong attention to detail, sound financial judgement and a commitment to accuracy, data integrity and continuous improvement.

Proactive, organised and comfortable managing competing month-end, reporting, tax and audit deadlines.

Strong communication skills, with the ability to work effectively with local teams, regional Shared Services, external auditors and other stakeholders.
