The Role
As we build a modern data capability, we now have the opportunity for a Data Engineer to join our Technology and Innovation Team on a permanent full-time basis. Based at our CBD Head Office, this is a hands-on SQL role, responsible for:
- Building automated data pipelines across operational systems
- Creating reliable SQL Server and PostgreSQL warehouse foundations
- Improving data platform performance, quality, monitoring and recoverability.
- Reducing manual data extracts and reporting rework
What You will Need
The successful candidate will be able to demonstrate:
- Expert SQL capability, particularly T-SQL and PostgreSQL
- Strong experience with query optimisation, indexing and execution plan analysis
- Proven ability to build ETL/ELT pipelines and warehouse structures
- Troubleshoot skills with the ability to identify and resolve data quality and integration issues end to end
- Effective communication skills, with confidence partnering across business Leaders and technical teams
- Experience in mining, industrial services, construction, maintenance or asset intensive environment is highly desirable
- CDP, APIs, Azure Data Factory, dbt, airflow or Python is an advantage
- Exposure to SSRS, Tableau or Apache SuperSet without being a visualisation specialist will be highly valued
