ElectraNet builds, owns, operates, and maintains the South Australian high voltage electricity transmission network that delivers energy from generators to distributors and major load-connected customers, enabling power to be supplied to homes, businesses, and communities. The Opportunity

As an Experienced Lines Engineer, you will play a key role in delivering specialist engineering services across ElectraNet’s transmission line and cable infrastructure portfolio. Working within a highly skilled engineering team, you will contribute to the design, assessment, construction, commissioning and ongoing optimisation of critical network assets that support the safe and reliable delivery of electricity throughout South Australia.

This is an opportunity to work on technically complex projects while providing subject matter expertise across the full asset lifecycle. You will collaborate with a broad range of internal and external stakeholders to develop practical, innovative and cost-effective engineering solutions that meet operational, regulatory and customer requirements.

Based in Adelaide, this full-time role will also cover the following key responsibilities:

Developing engineering deliverables including design briefs, technical investigations, engineering scopes and detailed designs.
Providing specialist technical support across transmission line and cable assets throughout their lifecycle
Identifying and assessing transmission line route options considering technical, environmental and commercial factors
Reviewing technical reports, specifications and engineering documentation
Contributing to the development of design standards, philosophies and functional requirements
Ensuring engineering outcomes comply with industry standards and ElectraNet requirements
Providing engineering advice during construction, commissioning, operational and maintenance activities
Supporting site acceptance testing and safe asset energisation
Working collaboratively with project teams, contractors, consultants and asset stakeholders
Championing Safety in Design and continuous improvement initiatives

About You

You are a capable and motivated engineer with demonstrated experience in transmission line and cable engineering. You combine strong technical capability with sound judgement, effective stakeholder engagement skills and a commitment to delivering high-quality engineering outcomes. You enjoy solving complex problems and contributing to projects that have a lasting impact on the electricity network.

To be successful, you will bring:

Minimum 5 years’ experience in Electrical/Electronic Engineering related role
A tertiary qualification in Electrical, Civil, Mechanical Engineering or a related discipline
Eligibility for membership with Engineers Australia
Demonstrated experience in the design, construction, commissioning, operation or maintenance of transmission line and cable assets
Strong knowledge of high voltage transmission networks and transmission line engineering practices
Experience with line and cable modelling, route selection and design documentation
Knowledge of earthing, lightning protection, EMF, insulation coordination and related line engineering principles
Experience using engineering software such as PLS-CADD, PSCAD, CDEGS, CYMCAP, ETAP or similar tools
Strong analytical, investigation and problem-solving skills
Excellent written and verbal communication skills
The ability to build effective working relationships across multidisciplinary teams and external stakeholders
A commitment to safety, quality and engineering excellence
