JOB DESCRIPTION
As a Software Engineer III at JPMorganChase within Commercial & Investment Bank Technology, you will build and sustain distributed microservices on AWS and PostgreSQL-backed platforms supporting mission-critical services.
You will collaborate cross-functionally with peers, product owners, and architects, ensuring that your technical contributions align with compliance standards, service level agreements, and the firm's strategic objectives. Job Responsibilities

Design and contribute to the development and maintenance of enterprise-grade applications using C# and the modern .NET ecosystem (.NET 6/7/8+), building scalable, high-availability solutions that serve critical business functions across the Commercial & Investment Bank.

Strong command of object-oriented programming principles, SOLID design, and established architectural patterns.

Work across the full software development lifecycle — from requirements analysis and system design through to production deployment and ongoing operational stability.

Design and implement RESTful APIs, event-driven microservices, and distributed systems, applying industry-standard design patterns and clean code principles to ensure maintainability and long-term extensibility.

Proficiency with PostgreSQL including advanced schema design, query optimization, indexing strategies, and performance analysis for high-volume workloads. Broader knowledge of relational databases (SQL Server, MySQL, Oracle) and experience with ORM frameworks (Entity Framework, Dapper) is required.

Hands-on experience with AI-powered development tools such as GitHub Copilot, or equivalent platforms, including the ability to evaluate output quality and apply responsible usage practices in day-to-day engineering work.

Leverages enterprise-authorized AI coding assist tools within the work environment to improve code quality, delivery speed, and productivity across complex deliverables (e.g., code generation/refactoring, unit test creation, documentation), while validating outputs through peer review, automated testing, and secure coding standards; contributes learnings and reusable patterns to improve broader team effectiveness.

Applies knowledge of tools within the Software Development Life Cycle toolchain, including enterprise-authorized AI-assisted development and automation capabilities, to improve the value realized by automation.
Required Qualifications, Capabilities & Skills

Skills A Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a closely related discipline is preferred, though equivalent professional experience will be considered.

5+ Years of applied experience in enterprise software development.

Hands-on experience using enterprise-authorized AI-assisted software development tools within the work environment (e.g., for coding, test creation, troubleshooting, or documentation) with demonstrated ability to critically evaluate, validate, and refine AI-generated outputs for correctness, performance, and security.
Understanding of responsible AI use in engineering workflows, including data sensitivity considerations, secure handling of inputs/outputs, and adherence to resiliency and security expectations; ability to guide peers on safe and effective usage within team practices.
