Position Brief - Senior Engineer
About the role
The City of Gold Coast is seeking an experienced Senior Engineer to help deliver practical stormwater, drainage and flood mitigation solutions for one of Australia's fastest-growing cities.In this role, you will work within a multidisciplinary engineering team delivering drainage infrastructure and flood management projects that directly improve community safety, resilience and urban development outcomes. You will apply your civil engineering expertise across stormwater planning, drainage design, flood assessments and infrastructure upgrades, with opportunities to contribute to hydrologic and hydraulic modelling where required.
Responsibilities include:
Lead the planning, assessment and delivery of stormwater and drainage infrastructure projects.
Develop practical drainage solutions including pit and pipe networks, culverts, swales, detention systems and open channels.
Undertake flood assessments and interpret modelling outcomes to inform engineering design and flood mitigation strategies.
Collaborate with engineers, designers and stakeholders to deliver integrated water management solutions.
Prepare clear, defensible technical reports, business cases and engineering recommendations.
Review and provide technical guidance on drainage studies, flood investigations and infrastructure designs.
Mentor junior engineers and technical staff.
Contribute to continuous improvement of engineering standards, workflows and design practices.
We’re looking for people who have:
A Bachelor of Engineering (Civil, Environmental or related discipline).
Demonstrated experience in civil engineering with a strong focus on stormwater, drainage and water infrastructure projects.
Experience in drainage design, flood mitigation, stormwater management or urban infrastructure delivery.
Knowledge of hydraulic and hydrologic assessment principles.
Experience with TUFLOW, URBS and GIS platforms is desirable but not essential.
Strong technical report writing and stakeholder communication skills.
Ability to translate technical investigations into practical, constructible engineering solutions.
RPEQ registration (desirable but not essential). Support will be provided to obtain registration if required.
Current Queensland "C" Class Driver Licence.
General Construction Induction Card (White Card) is desirable
