About the role:
As a Procurement Business Partner, you will play a pivotal role in delivering strategic value for money procurement outcomes that support Council’s priorities and create positive outcomes for the community.
Working closely with key internal stakeholders and project teams across the Council, you will provide trusted commercial and procurement advice throughout the procurement lifecycle - from planning and market engagement, through to sourcing, contract establishment and supplier performance. You will lead complex and high-value procurement activities, ensuring compliance with legislative and governance requirements while identifying opportunities to drive innovation, sustainability, efficiency and continuous improvement.
This is a highly collaborative role that combines strategic thinking, commercial acumen and stakeholder engagement to help Council achieve its organisational objectives, deliver quality services and maximise value from public expenditure
You will:
- Partner with business units to plan, lead and deliver strategic procurement activities that achieve value for money, manage risk and support Council’s objectives
- Provide expert procurement and commercial advice across the end-to-end procurement lifecycle, ensuring compliance with legislation, Council policy and best practice.
- Develop and maintain strong relationships with internal stakeholders and suppliers to support successful sourcing, contract establishment and ongoing supplier performance.
- Lead continuous improvement initiatives that strengthen procurement capability, governance, systems and processes, while promoting innovation, sustainability and social procurement outcomes.
- Monitor procurement performance, identify opportunities to improve commercial outcomes and contribute to the development of procurement strategies, policies and organisational capability.
About you:
You are a commercially minded procurement professional who enjoys partnering with stakeholders to deliver practical, value for money outcomes. You combine strong technical procurement expertise with excellent communication skills and a collaborative approach.
- Demonstrated expertise delivering end-to-end procurement activities, including complex sourcing, tendering and contract establishment within a governance framework.
- Strong commercial acumen with the ability to provide trusted advice, negotiate effectively and identify opportunities to improve value, manage risk and drive better business outcomes.
- Proven ability to build productive relationships with stakeholders at all levels, influence decison-making and work collaboratively across diverse teams.
- Working knowledge of the procurement legislation governance principles and best practice, with experience applying these in a local government or public sector environment is highly regarded.
- A proactive, solutions-focused approach with strong analytical, organisational and communication skills, and a commitment to integrity, continuous improvement and delivering positive outcomes for the community.
