Are you an experienced FMCG leader looking for a high-impact, medium-term opportunity? We are currently seeking Expressions of Interest (EOI) for experienced Category Managers to step into our Commercial team on a 6 to 12-month fixed-term contract.

What you’ll do

Stepping into a pivotal Commercial role, you will hit the ground running to lead the end-to-end strategy and execution for a key product category. You will take ownership of financial performance and market share while coaching a team and collaborating cross-functionally.

Key Responsibilities during your contract:

Drive Strategy: Develop and implement customer-centered category plans and reviews to meet KPIs across sales, profit, inventory, and market share.
Create Value: Negotiate effectively with suppliers regarding range, Cost of Goods (COGs), and promotional investments to secure a competitive advantage.
Own the "4 Ps": Oversee Product, Price, Promotion, and Placement, sourcing customer-centric products while ensuring all legal and statutory compliance.
Collaborate: Partner with cross-functional teams—including Marketing, Online, Replenishment, and Insights—to execute seamless category strategies.
Lead & Mentor: Coach, manage, and develop your team members to foster high performance and resolve customer or store issues promptly.

What you’ll bring

To be successful in this role, you will need to be agile, adaptable, and ready to deliver from day one. We are looking for:

Proven buying/category management experience in a large supermarket or FMCG environment.
Strong financial and data literacy (including Excel/Google proficiency) to develop market-leading category plans and deliver continuous improvement based on commercial insights.
A demonstrated ability to negotiate and influence stakeholders at all levels, combining excellent interpersonal skills with a collaborative cross-functional approach.
A reputation as an outstanding leader and team player who can coach a high-performing team.
High organisation skills, adaptability to change, and resilience, with excellent communication skills and a deep alignment with the Woolworths values.
