About the role
We’re seeking an experienced Senior Laboratory Technician to join our high performing soil testing laboratory in Bibra Lake.
Reporting to the Laboratory Analysis Supervisor, you will provide technical expertise, support laboratory operations, mentor team members, and help drive quality, safety, and continuous improvement initiatives within a busy laboratory environment.
Key responsibilities will include:
Supporting the day-to-day operations of the laboratory
Performing and overseeing soil testing and analysis activities
Ensuring laboratory methods, procedures, and quality standards are consistently met
Providing technical guidance and troubleshooting support to laboratory staff
Training and mentoring laboratory technicians
Monitoring laboratory equipment operation and coordinating maintenance activities
Assisting with identifying and resolving quality issues through root cause analysis
Supporting continuous improvement initiatives to enhance laboratory efficiency and performance
Monitoring laboratory consumables and supply requirements
Participating in recruitment and onboarding of seasonal laboratory staff
Promoting a strong safety culture and leading by example
About You
To be successful in this role, you will bring:
Bachelor of Science or Certificate IV in Laboratory Techniques
Demonstrated experience working in a laboratory environment, including wet laboratory techniques and instrumentation
Strong understanding of laboratory quality assurance systems and procedures
Experience training, mentoring, and leading team members
Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal
Outstanding organisational and time management skills
High attention to detail and commitment to quality outcomes
Strong problem-solving capabilities and a continuous improvement mindset
Ability to prioritise workloads and perform effectively both independently and as part of a team
Available to work early and afternoon shifts during busy seasonal periods to support business needs.
