TDL is an established and growing residential & commercial landscape construction, maintenance and design business delivering projects across Western Australia. As we continue to grow, we're looking for an experienced and commercially minded Financial Controller to join our Executive Leadership Team.
Reporting directly to the General Manager, you will be a trusted business partner to the Managing Director and leadership team, providing financial leadership, commercial insight and strategic support to help drive business performance.
This is not a traditional finance role. We're looking for someone who enjoys understanding a business, working alongside operational managers, improving systems and processes, and confidently challenging the status quo to achieve better outcomes.
Key Responsibilities

Lead and develop our finance team whilst fostering a culture of accountability and continuous improvement.
- Deliver accurate monthly financial reporting, forecasting, budgeting, and cash flow management.
- Provide commercial analysis and insights to support strategic and operational decision-making.
- Partner with business unit managers to improve project profitability and business performance.
- Oversee month-end and year-end reporting, external audits, and statutory compliance.
- Manage banking relationships, funding, taxation obligations, payroll oversight, and financial governance.
- Ensure accurate project accounting, revenue recognition, and work-in-progress reporting.
- Drive continuous improvement of financial systems, reporting, and internal controls.
About You
You are a confident, hands-on finance leader who combines strong technical accounting skills with commercial thinking. You enjoy working closely with operational teams, aren't afraid to ask the tough questions, and build credibility through honesty, professionalism, and sound judgement.
You will bring:

CA or CPA qualification.
- Proven experience as a Financial Controller or Senior Finance Manager.
- Strong experience within construction, contracting, or other project-based industries (highly regarded).
- Expertise in budgeting, forecasting, cash flow management, and financial reporting.
- Strong commercial acumen with the ability to influence and challenge constructively.
- Experience leading and developing finance teams.
- A proactive, hands-on approach with a passion for improving systems and business performance.
- Experience with system implementation, ERP, with MYOB Acumatica highly regarded.
