Purpose of the Role
BGIS is seeking an experienced Operations Manager to oversee facilities management services across a national portfolio of corporate and retail locations for one of Australia's largest telecommunications organisations. Reporting directly to the Account Director, you will work closely with client and BGIS teams to support service delivery, vendor performance, financial outcomes, compliance, and continuous improvement.
The ideal candidate will be a relationship-focused and collaborative facilities professional who enjoys working with a diverse range of stakeholders. You will be comfortable navigating complex stakeholder environments, balancing empathy with professional boundaries, and building trusted partnerships that support positive outcomes for both the client and the broader team.
Key Responsibilities
- Oversee the delivery of facilities management services across a national portfolio of corporate and retail sites.
- Support and mentor Facilities Managers while fostering a collaborative and inclusive team environment.
- Partner with service providers and contractors to ensure contractual obligations, service standards, and KPIs are achieved.
- Coordinate budgeting, forecasting, procurement activities, and financial reporting processes.
- Review vendor performance and identify opportunities to improve service quality, efficiency, and value.
- Support compliance with WHS, environmental, quality, and corporate governance requirements.
- Build and maintain positive working relationships with client representatives, suppliers, and internal stakeholders.
- Assist with risk management, incident response, business continuity activities, and emergency management processes.
- Support project delivery, asset replacement programs, and sustainability initiatives across the portfolio.
- Participate in the account's after-hours escalation process when required.
Education, Experience & Skills
Essential:
- Minimum 5 years' experience within the Facilities Management industry, including experience managing teams, portfolios, or multi-site operations (all levels encouraged to apply)
- Experience within commercial property, retail, corporate real estate, industrial, hospitality, or similar environments.
- Strong understanding of budgeting, forecasting, procurement, reporting, and contract administration.
- Experience managing subcontractors and service providers across multiple sites.
- Working knowledge of WHS, Quality Assurance, and Environmental Management systems.
- Strong stakeholder engagement and communication skills.
- Experience preparing reports, recommendations, and operational updates for clients and senior stakeholders.
- Ability to build positive relationships while managing competing priorities and expectations.
Desirable:
- Trade qualification or industry-recognised qualification relating to Facilities Management, Mechanical Services, Property, or Program Management.
- Tertiary qualifications in Property, Commerce, Business, or a related discipline.
- Experience within telecommunications, large corporate portfolios, or retail property environments.
- Experience supporting sustainability, asset management, or energy efficiency initiatives.
- Experience working within long-standing client partnerships.
Workplace Flexibility
To support your success, this position is based at Macquarie Park with a hybrid working arrangement of four days across the office and client sites, and one day working from home . Free onsite parking is available, and regular engagement with both site-based and corporate stakeholders forms an important part of the role.
