Role Overview
We are seeking to appoint Marine Services Team Members for work in Whyalla and Port Bonython, South Australia.
This is a Casual opportunity, and you will be required to be readily available to work 4-7 hr blocks over a span of hours & days within a 7 day/ 24-hour period (day, evening and midnight shifts) to meet with our operational needs.
Ideally, we are looking for a candidate who can work in both Whyalla and Port Bonython, however we will still consider candidates who can work in one location.
Key Responsibilities
Operating mooring related aids such as capstans and quick release hooks to assist in the safe berthing of vessels;
Participating in minor maintenance of Department of Infrastructure and Transport Assets such as quick release hooks, walkway mesh and cleaning of mooring dolphins as required;
Undertaking wharf preparation and clean up duties as required; and
Assisting launch related duties as requested, including safe transfer of pilots to and from vessels, maintenance of the launch, and oil pollution response activities.
About you
Experience working both independently with limited supervision, and within a multi skilled team environment;
Strong interpersonal and communication skills;
Must be willing and able to work in diverse weather conditions and at varying times of the day & night including weekends and public holidays as required;
Experience carrying out minor maintenance activities and in the use of general plant and equipment;
Current Driver’s Licence;
Knowledge of WHS practices that apply to general labouring work; and
Must be able to obtain an MSIC (Maritime Security Identification Card), and Police Clearance.
Full training will be provided, however any previous experience working in manual handling or general labouring would be looking favourably on. This role includes physical duties such as lifting up to 20–25kg and requires good upper body strength and cardiovascular endurance.
