Grosvenor Mine – an underground steelmaking coal mine produced its first longwall coal in May 2016 and is located in Moranbah, about 190 km south-west of Mackay.
We are building the team to deliver the next chapter of Grosvenor Mine. With a planned return to longwall production by Q4 2027, this is a unique opportunity to contribute to a major mine restart and help shape the future of underground mining.
Working alongside experienced professionals, you will play a role in implementing leading-edge technology, automation, monitoring systems and operational improvements that will define how the mine operates for years to come.
Job Description
Grosvenor Mine
Grosvenor Mine has an exciting opportunity for an experienced Operations Superintendent to join the team on a permanent basis, based in Moranbah, QLD. This is your opportunity to join a team to implement best practice initiatives and where you can really drive your future career.
You will be responsible for the coordination of the Mining activities and resources to maintain a safe and productive workplace in accordance with the annual mining plan. You will enjoy working in a fast paced, high performing team driving performance through your superior leadership skills.
Reporting to the Operations Manager, your typical duties include, but not limited to the following:

Demonstrate a commitment to safe work practices with an emphasis on delivering improvements

Build, lead and develop operational crews to deliver the annual plan with optimal performance

Lead a systematic approach in the identification and delivery of sustainable operations sequence, plans, processes and methods.

Act as the on shift focal point for the implementation and leadership of continuous improvement initiatives

Work with the Maintenance and Engineering teams on improvements during overhauls of the equipment to ensure availability and reliability is in line with the business KPI requirements

Ensure compliance with all people, safety, technical, operating and business systems, behaviours and culture in the Operations team.
Qualifications
-
Extensive experience working in an underground coal mining environment

A Deputy Certificate of Competency and/or Trade/Engineering qualifications in Mechanical or Electrical fields will be highly regarded

Demonstrated leadership experience within the coal mining industry.

Knowledge of relevant mining legislation and its application.

Strong interpersonal and negotiation skills to influence and achieve buy-in from key stakeholders.

An ability to embrace and lead the adoption of innovation and technology

Well-developed understanding of operations, maintenance and work management principles

An understanding of key safety risks and ways to mitigate them.
