Full Job Description

The opportunity

A rare opportunity has become available to work on some of Downer’s most crucial Power Projects. We are now seeking an experienced Project Director to lead, plan, direct and control the design and construction of transmission line and substation infrastructure (HV Transmission Infrastructure) projects up to $500m, through assigned team members. The successful incumbent can envision themselves attending to duties such as:

What you’ll do

Manage all aspects of project delivery from site and team-setup to handover through the application of Downer Project Management tools and systems
Develop and review design, environmental, community and construction planning and monitor progress of allocated projects to ensure they are on schedule and within quality and cost estimates
Responsible for the successful completion of the project, in accordance with Zero Harm objectives, client requirements, quality, time and costs constraints to achieve profit objectives
Implement corrective measures to address negative variances to budget/business risks
Analyse project performance/trends and provide recommendations for business improvement/ growth
Maintain schedules and planning to meet objectives / projects
Responsible for the day-to-day management / compliance to the Project Safety & Environment Management Plans
Undertake regular review of phased forecasts and ensure forecasts are accurate and detailed

What we’re looking for

Minimum 10 years’ experience in the engineering and/or construction industry
Minimum five years’ experience in a similar position managing major projects (up to $500m) preferably within power projects
Engineer degree qualified with a PMBOK and/or CPPD accreditation
Solid understanding and demonstration of successful Project Directorship and Project Management skills
Working knowledge and understanding of OH&S, Business Management Systems/Standards and employee relations legislation
Management experience (general and operational) with capability to develop strategic / business / project plans and delivery responsibility
