About the Role:
ELMO Software is looking for a Senior Software Engineer to join our HR Core Team. This team sits at the very heart of the ELMO ecosystem, building, scaling, and architecting the foundational modules that power our entire HR platform.
If you are a seasoned full-stack engineer who thrives on solving complex architectural challenges, mentoring peers, and driving technical excellence across both the front-end and back-end, this is your chance to make a massive impact. You’ll lead high-visibility, mission-critical projects that directly influence the daily workflows of thousands of organizations.
What You’ll Do:
•
Drive Technical Delivery: Own large epics and complex features end-to-end—from architectural design and requirement refinement to build, testing, deployment, and production support.
•
Architect & Scale: Build secure, reliable, and highly scalable full-stack features using React and PHP, partnering closely with Product Owners, Architects, and engineering leadership.
•
Innovate with AI: Work in an AI-native engineering environment, leveraging cutting-edge AI tools and agents to accelerate routine workflows while applying senior-level judgment, code quality oversight, and security standards to all outputs.
•
Technical Leadership: Lead technical design discussions, champion engineering best practices, and set high standards for clean, maintainable code.
•
Mentor & Collaborate: Foster a culture of continuous improvement by mentoring mid-level and junior engineers, conducting thorough code reviews, and sharing knowledge.
•
Ensure System Health: Take a leading role in investigating, debugging, and resolving complex production issues across the team’s applications to ensure maximum uptime and performance.
What We’re Looking For:
•
Senior Full-Stack Expertise: Strong commercial experience building enterprise-grade web applications using PHP (modern frameworks) and React.
•
Architectural Mindset: Deep understanding of software design patterns, RESTful APIs, database optimization, and scalable microservices or modular monolith architectures.
•
Mentorship Mentality: A passion for guiding team members and raising the collective technical bar of the engineering team.
•
AI-Augmented Engineering: Openness to—and ideally experience with—using AI tools to speed up development cycles without sacrificing security or quality.
•
Problem Solver: Excellent debugging skills and a proactive approach to handling production incidents and technical debt.
•
Strong Communicator: Ability to translate complex technical concepts into clear terms for product stakeholders and team members alike.
Skills and Experiences:
Technical skills:
- Hands-on experience with PHP, React and modern web application development.
- Solid grounding in software engineering fundamentals, including SOLID, REST, OOP and secure coding practices.
- Ability to produce maintainable, well-tested and well-documented code.
- Strong debugging and problem-solving skills, including log analysis and production investigation.
- Confidence using AI coding tools effectively, including effective prompt writing and critical review of generated output.
- Nice to have:
- Experience with AI-assisted development tools such as Claude Code or Codex.
- Familiarity with GraphQL.
