Maribyrnong College provides a broad education for 1350 students in Years 7~12. It is home to Victoria's only state funded Sports Designated Program with a select entry sports enrolment comprising approximately 40% of the school population.

Maribyrnong College delivers programs that produce outstanding outcomes for students in both academic and sporting endeavours. The College provides a broad VCE curriculum, including the Vocational Major, and the majority of students undertake further study after Year 12. A High Achievers program operates at Years 7 ~ 9, with extension opportunities available to all students. Year 10 students can access a range of VCE subjects. A rich extra curricular program includes instrumental music and drama, debating, a school production and a strong interschool sports program. The College has an active Student Leadership Program at all year levels.
The college has recently been funded in the state budget for a $14.3 million upgrade of its Performing Arts and Food Technology precinct. Current college facilities also include a 7000 square metre Sports Stadium with an elite training centre, and synthetic hockey, soccer and tennis facilities. The sport complex forms the base for the Maribyrnong Sports Academy program and all students at the College use this facility for Health and PE classes.

Leading teachers will be highly skilled classroom practitioners and undertake leadership and management roles commensurate with their salary range. The role of leading teachers is to improve the skill, knowledge and performance of the teaching workforce in a school or group of schools and to improve the curriculum program of a school.
Typically, leading teachers are responsible for coordinating a number of staff to achieve improvements in teaching and learning which may involve the coordination and professional support of colleagues through modelling, collaborating and coaching and using processes that develop knowledge, practice and professional engagement in others.
Leading teachers are expected to lead and manage a significant area or function within the school with a high degree of independence to ensure the effective development, provision and evaluation of the school's education program.
Leading teachers will be expected to make a significant contribution to policy development relating to teaching and learning in the school. A leading teacher has a direct impact and influence on the achievement of the school goals.
Leading teachers are usually responsible for the implementation of one or more priorities contained in the school strategic plan.

Leading Teacher ~ Head of Senior School (Years 11 & 12)
Role Purpose
Lead the Senior School team in maximising student achievement and successful post school pathways.
Key Responsibilities

Develop and implement a vision for Senior School in line with college priorities.

Drive improvement initiatives across the sub-school.

Provide effective and dynamic leadership of the team of Senior School Coordinators, teachers and Education Support staff in all matters pertaining to VCE and VCE VM student learning growth, behaviour, wellbeing and engagement.

To foster positive partnerships between parents and the college.

Ensure compliance with VCAA and relevant frameworks including VASS.

Lead all Senior School operations and programs, including but not limited to:

Lead sub-school presence at relevant college events.

Coordinate sub school communications.

Manage the Senior School budget.

Understand and implement the school's Child Safe Policy and foster a culture of openness with staff and students that supports all persons to safely disclose risks of harm to children.
