At Jacobs, we're challenging today to reinvent tomorrow by solving the world's most critical problems for thriving cities, resilient environments, mission-critical outcomes, operational advancement, scientific discovery and cutting-edge manufacturing, turning abstract ideas into realities that transform the world for good.
Your impact
From the rapid growth of artificial intelligence to the global expansion of cloud computing and digital infrastructure, data centres have become some of the world's most important assets. Behind every hyperscale campus, colocation facility and mission-critical environment is a team of engineers solving increasingly complex challenges around resilience, sustainability, energy, digital integration and speed to market.
At Jacobs, we're helping shape that future.
Our Advanced Facilities business partners with many of the world's leading technology companies, developers and operators to deliver complex, high-value infrastructure across Australia, New Zealand and around the globe. Through the strength of our global network, we're bringing together world-class technical expertise, digital capability and local market knowledge to help our clients solve problems that matter.
As demand continues to accelerate across the region, we're looking for an exceptional Principal Electrical Engineer to help lead the next chapter of our Data Centre business.
This is far more than a technical leadership role.
It is an opportunity to influence the direction of one of Jacobs' fastest-growing sectors, work alongside recognised global technical leaders, build trusted client relationships, mentor the next generation of engineers and help deliver some of the most significant mission-critical projects in the Asia-Pacific region.
If you're motivated by technical excellence, enjoy solving complex engineering challenges and want to leave a lasting impact on an industry transforming the way the world connects, we'd love to hear from you.
As Principal – Electrical (Data Centres), you'll play a central leadership role within our ANZ Advanced Facilities team, providing technical, commercial and strategic leadership across a diverse portfolio of mission-critical projects.
You'll work closely with clients, project teams and Jacobs' global technical network to develop innovative electrical engineering solutions that deliver exceptional outcomes while strengthening Jacobs' position as a trusted advisor in the data centre market.
This is a highly visible role with significant influence across project delivery, client engagement, business growth and technical governance.
Success won't simply be measured by the projects you deliver—but by the capability you build, the clients you develop, the engineers you mentor and the reputation you help create across the industry.
Provide technical leadership across major hyperscale, colocation and mission-critical facility projects throughout Australia and New Zealand.
Guide multidisciplinary design teams through every stage of project delivery, from concept design through commissioning and handover.
Ensure exceptional engineering quality, innovation and consistency across project outcomes.
Provide technical governance, peer reviews and engineering sign-off on critical deliverables.
Support design management activities that balance technical excellence, commercial outcomes and project risk.
Here's what you'll need
Extensive experience delivering complex electrical engineering projects within the Data Centre, Mission Critical, Advanced Facilities or closely related sectors.
Proven ability to lead multidisciplinary engineering teams on large, technically complex projects.
Strong understanding of electrical systems associated with mission-critical environments.
Demonstrated experience working directly with major clients and stakeholders.
Excellent communication and relationship-building skills.
Strong commercial awareness with an understanding of project delivery, risk management and business development.
Chartered Engineer status (or working towards) and relevant tertiary qualifications in Electrical Engineering.
