We are seeking a commercially minded Pre-Sales Engineer to become the technical bridge between our Sales team and Product & Technology functions.
This newly created role offers the opportunity to establish and shape the pre-sales capability for the ANZ market while supporting schools across Australia and New Zealand as they evaluate and adopt technology solutions from the Tes portfolio. Working closely with school leaders, IT teams and business managers, you will help customers navigate technical requirements, design fit-for-purpose solutions and make informed technology decisions.
Reporting to the Director of Sales & Customer Success, you'll partner with Business Development, Customer Success and Product teams to provide technical expertise throughout the sales cycle. You'll bring credibility to customer engagements, support complex opportunities and ensure customer feedback and market insights help inform future product development.
You will work across solutions within the Tes portfolio, supporting customers with integrations, identity management, infrastructure considerations and broader technology strategy.
This is a true pre-sales role focused on technical discovery, solution design and commercial support—not implementation or post-sales delivery.
What You'll Do
As the technical subject matter expert for the ANZ market, you will:
- Partner with Sales on complex opportunities across the Tes portfolio.
- Lead technical discovery sessions, solution demonstrations and customer workshops.
- Support tenders, RFPs and procurement processes.
- Design and articulate solution architectures across cloud, hybrid and integrated environments.
- Advise customers on integrations, APIs, identity management, security and infrastructure considerations.
- Create technical sales collateral, enablement resources and proof-of-concept materials.
- Provide technical coaching and support to Sales and Customer Success teams.
- Capture customer requirements and market insights to inform Product and Technology teams.
- Build trusted relationships with school IT leaders, business managers and executive stakeholders across the ANZ region.
What We're Looking For
Essential
- 5+ years' experience in a Pre-Sales Engineer, Solutions Engineer, Sales Engineer or Technical Consulting role.
- Experience supporting enterprise software or SaaS sales opportunities from discovery through to close.
- Strong understanding of SaaS architecture, cloud technologies, APIs, integrations and SSO/SAML.
- Strong communication, presentation and stakeholder management skills, with the ability to engage both technical and non-technical audiences.
- Experience collaborating across commercial and technical teams.
- A self-directed approach and the ability to operate effectively across a distributed ANZ territory.
Highly Regarded
- Experience within the K–12 education sector or broader EdTech industry.
- Knowledge of Student Information Systems (SIS), Learning Management Systems (LMS) or timetabling platforms.
- Familiarity with school technology environments including Active Directory, identity management and ERP integrations.
- Understanding of Australian education procurement, privacy and governance requirements.
- Exposure to AI technologies and emerging conversations around responsible AI adoption.
- Experience establishing new processes, frameworks or functions within a growing organisation.
