What’s the role?
We are looking for our next Senior Leader to join our Retail Banking leadership team as a Regional General Manager in our Newcastle and Central Coast Region at Westpac. As a Regional General Manager, you’ll lead the Newcastle and Central Coast team as your own business, bringing together customer outcomes, commercial performance and a strong people culture. Leading a team of Bank Managers, you’ll focus on coaching, capability building and developing future leaders while lifting engagement and performance across your branches, ensuring excellence across all metrics and for our customers.
As part of the NSW and ACT state leadership team, you’ll play a key role in shaping how strategy lands in your region. You’ll strengthen community connections, drive growth across lending, deposits and digital banking and create an environment where customer obsession, inclusion and strong risk management are part of everyday decisions.
This is a permanent, full-time role based across Newcastle and Central Coast region, travel within this region is required.
What do I need?
- Proven experience leading leaders across multiple locations, regions or portfolios.
- A strong coaching and mentoring mindset, with a track record of developing high-performing teams and future leaders.
- The ability to translate strategy into clear, practical actions that drive results.
- Strong commercial acumen, balancing performance, risk management and customer outcomes.
- Demonstrated success leading change within a banking, sales or customer service environment.
- A customer-obsessed approach, with a commitment to delivering exceptional customer experiences and outcomes.
- Experience leading by example, role modelling high service standards and managing complex customer escalations.
- A proven ability to build inclusive, safe and engaged teams where people feel valued and can perform at their best.
- Confidence and curiosity to embrace AI and emerging technologies, leveraging new tools and insights to enhance team performance, customer outcomes and operational efficiency.
