OUR TEAM
Our Above Water Systems team provides engineering & maintenance services to Royal Australian Navy vessels and commercial ships. We’re proud to bolster Australia’s sovereign capability through operational support to our defence partners. YOUR ROLE
Located in Sydney at Woolloomooloo's Garden Island, on Gadigal land your role will be to commence and complete a 2-year registered traineeship in Certificate III in Construction Crane Operations. You will have the chance to learn and apply skills in the largest Dry Dock in the Southern Hemisphere!
You will gain training and experience in Maritime ship repairs, including:
General lift of construction material for ship maintenance
Rigging and removal of major ship components in the Dry Dock and various wharfs
Working safely at Heights in Boom Lifts and Man Boxes
Moving material using forklifts, vehicles and trailers
YOUR EXPERIENCE
As a new Trainee, we'll expect you to bring the following skills and behaviours:
Genuine interest in gaining a qualification
Sound literacy, numeracy and basic computer skills
Strong communication skills and ability to work within a team environment
Comfortable working in a noisy, dusty environment, at Heights, and in Confined Spaces
Hold a General Construction Induction card (White Card)
AUSTRALIAN DEFENCE ROLES & SECURITY
A Defence security clearance NV1 is required for this role, applicants must be Australian citizens and eligible to obtain and maintain an appropriate clearance.
Additional information with regards to clearances is available from the Australian Government Security Vetting Agency website http://www.defence.gov.au/AGSVA/. In some cases, individuals who hold a current clearance from a foreign government may be eligible to have this clearance recognised by the Australian Government and be eligible for this role. The Australian Defence Trade Controls Act (DTCA) is applicable and as such, your nationality may be a factor in determining your suitability for this role.
