Mechanical Engineer

About the Role
We are seeking an experienced and motivated Mechanical Engineer to play a key leadership role within our engineering team.
This position combines strong technical expertise with leadership responsibilities, requiring someone who can coordinate engineering resources, assign priorities, mentor team members, and oversee the successful delivery of multiple engineering projects. You will work closely with senior management to drive engineering performance, improve operational efficiency, and ensure projects are delivered to the highest standard.
In addition to providing technical direction, you will be responsible for supporting the day-to-day management of the engineering team, improving engineering processes, and contributing to the continuous growth of our engineering capability.
This position offers a clear career pathway towards Engineering Manager or Project Manager.
Key Responsibilities
Engineering Leadership
· Lead and coordinate the day-to-day activities of the engineering team.
· Allocate daily and weekly tasks based on project priorities, workloads, and business requirements.
· Monitor project progress and ensure engineering deliverables are completed on schedule.
· Review engineering work to maintain quality, consistency, and compliance with company standards.
· Mentor and support engineers through technical guidance, coaching, and knowledge sharing.
· Assist management in developing team capabilities, improving performance, and fostering a collaborative working culture.
· Identify workflow improvements and implement engineering best practices.
Project Coordination
· Coordinate multiple engineering projects from planning through to completion.
· Manage project schedules, priorities, resources, budgets, and deliverables.
· Work closely with senior management to align engineering activities with business objectives.
· Identify project risks and implement practical solutions.
· Ensure projects are delivered on time, within budget, and to the highest quality standards.
Technical Responsibilities
· Oversee mechanical design, prototyping, testing, validation, and continuous product improvement.
· Guide the development of fixtures, jigs, tooling, and functional prototypes.
· Review CAD models, engineering drawings, and technical documentation.
· Provide technical expertise for additive manufacturing, product testing, and customer applications.
· Evaluate new products, materials, and manufacturing technologies.
· Support engineering decisions involving FDM 3D printing, slicing optimisation, and production workflows.
Cross-functional Collaboration
· Collaborate closely with Sales, Customer Service, Warehouse, Purchasing, and Technical Support teams.
· Liaise with Bambu Lab and overseas suppliers regarding technical issues, product improvements, and new product development.
· Support customer demonstrations, technical workshops, and product training when required.
· Participate in international travel for supplier meetings, exhibitions, factory visits, and technical collaboration.
Minimum Qualifications
· Bachelor's Degree (Honours preferred) in Mechanical Engineering, Mechatronics Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, or a related discipline.
· Minimum 5 years of mechanical engineering experience.
· Demonstrated experience coordinating engineering teams, projects, or technical resources.
· Strong experience managing engineering projects from concept through delivery.
· Extensive experience with FDM 3D printing technologies and additive manufacturing.
· Advanced proficiency in CAD software including SolidWorks, Fusion 360, Creo, Inventor, or equivalent.
· Strong leadership, organisational, and decision-making skills.
· Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities.
· Fluent English.
· Mandarin proficiency is highly desirable.
· Current Australian Driver Licence.
Preferred Qualifications
· Experience leading multidisciplinary engineering projects.
· Experience in project management and resource planning.
· Experience working with Bambu Lab products or industrial FDM 3D printing systems.
· Knowledge of quality management and continuous improvement methodologies.
· Experience developing engineering processes, standard operating procedures (SOPs), and workflow improvements.
· Familiarity with ERP, PLM, or project management software.
· Experience working with international suppliers and manufacturers.
