Join our specialist Component Rebuild Centre in Clayton, where you'll support a skilled team of technicians working on some of the toughest Caterpillar rebuilds and repairs in the business.
We're looking for a hands-on Trade Assistant to join us full-time, Monday to Friday. If you enjoy working in a fast-paced workshop and take pride in supporting quality workmanship, this is a great opportunity to build your skills alongside experienced technicians.
In this role, you'll look after the day-to-day housekeeping of our specialisation shop, as well as assisting with the rebuild and repair of engines, transmissions, final drives, axle groups, hydraulic control valves, fuel pumps and more. From organising tools and parts to maintaining equipment and assisting with strip-downs, cleaning and inspections, you'll play an important role in keeping our workshop running efficiently while developing your mechanical knowledge.

ABOUT THE ROLE
Key responsibilities include:
- Maintain the housekeeping of the specialisation shop
- Attend and contribute to Morning CATS Meeting (pre-start) daily
- Assist tradespeople with repairs, rebuilds, and component rebuilds
- Complete all necessary paperwork & reports relating to works completed
- Maintain tools, equipment, and work areas to a high standard
- Follow safety procedures and ensure all work meets quality standards
- Complete basic service and maintenance tasks under supervision
- Ensure all tooling is in good condition and fit to the task being performed
- Assisting with machine shop and hydraulic cylinder repair activities
- Preparing, cleaning and moving components throughout the workshop
ABOUT YOU
To be successful in this role, you'll bring:
- A genuine interest in heavy machinery and mechanical work
- Previous workshop or mechanical experience (preferred but not essential)
- Strong work ethic and a willingness to learn from experienced tradespeople
- Good communication and teamwork skills
- High attention to detail and commitment to safety
- A positive attitude and readiness to get involved in hands-on work
