Primary objective
Lead continuous quality improvement processes across the Northern Territory Medical Imaging Informatics network, including
planning, evaluation, research, monitoring and reporting functions at local, territory and national levels to enhance acute care and
community Medical Imaging service delivery.
Key duties and responsibilities
1. Lead and manage the NT PACS and IT related Medical Imaging systems using sound human resource and financial management
practices to optimise efficiency and meet departmental and national policy, program and financial reporting requirements.
2. Act as primary source of expert advice and strategic leadership for Medical Imaging Services throughout the NT.
3. Provide expert training, information and advice to a diverse group of professional, medical, nursing and administrative staff
combined with employees of contractors to ensure a continuing excellent quality of medical imaging services in the NT. Training,
information and advice will not be restricted to staff of DoH, but will also include doctors and organisations working outside of
the five NT hospitals.
4. Provide strategic planning advice for the future direction of the Medical Imaging Service in the NT to meet the increasing demands
for imaging services with an ever-increasing client workload, technological changes and introduction of new
techniques/procedures to examine and treat patients.
5. Maintain a cohesive working relationship with all stakeholders involved in the use and provision of Medical Imaging services.
6. Provide data and/or reports for the use in research projects, monitoring KPI performance or clinical investigations as required.
7. Maintain data quality within medical imaging information systems including correcting coding errors, updating incorrect patient
demographics and hospital meta data.
8. Providing support for the implementation and maintenance of Informatics Systems, including maintaining data quality within
medical imaging information systems from correcting coding errors, updating incorrect patient demographics and/or hospital meta
data.
9. Establish and maintain effective networks with Medical Imaging departments across Australia and the NT for the purpose of
obtaining and disseminating strategic information and creating systems to improve patient information flow.
10. Follow defined service quality standards, work health and safety policies and procedures relating to the work being undertaken
in order to ensure high quality, safe services and workplaces.
11. Foster a positive workplace culture through exemplary leadership practices and role modelling behavior.
Selection criteria
Essential
1. Qualification in Medical Radiations which allows eligibility for registration as a radiographer in the Northern Territory.
2. Extensive experience in leading large successful Medical Imaging projects, including discovery, design, testing, training and
ongoing support and quality improvement
3. Extensive Experience in training key stakeholders in IT related issues.
4. Extensive experience in managing a Medical Imaging Informatics service that responds to the needs of the key stakeholders to
improve patient care.
5. Ability to work as a member of a team or individually as required and to communicate clearly with other medical professions.
6. An ability to interact effectively with people of diverse cultures.
Desirable
1. Post Graduate qualifications in Medical Imaging related field, Management and/or Information Technology/Informatics
