The Department of Justice and Community Safety is seeking a Project Support Officer to provide a critical role within Gambling, Liquor & Tobacco.
About the business unit
The Gambling, Liquor & Tobacco business unit supports the regulation of gambling, liquor and tobacco in Victoria, to minimise the harms these products can cause and contribute positively to the Victorian economy. It is responsible for:
- delivering and further developing the Victorian Government's strategic response to gambling, liquor, and tobacco issues
- developing and implementing the government's policy on major gambling licensing processes
- delivering a research and evaluation program to inform responses to gambling harm in Victoria.
It advises the Minister for Casino, Gaming and Liquor Regulation and is the primary government point of reference for industry, community and government on liquor and gambling issues.
The Gambling Harm Evidence & Response branch helps to reduce gambling harm by:
- building the evidence base through a targeted research agenda and an associated research grants program
- sharing the body of gambling knowledge to inform responses to gambling harm
- evaluating gambling harm programs, services and policy responses to ensure continual improvement
- coordinating the Whole-of-Victorian-Government Gambling Harm Prevention and Response Model.
About the role
Reporting to the Senior Program Manager - Gambling Harm Prevention & Response, but working across the Gambling Harm Evidence & Response branch, the Project Support Officer provides administrative, coordination and project support to enable the effective delivery of the branch's work program. The role supports governance activities for committees and advisory bodies associated with the model, including coordinating meetings and preparing minutes, while also managing reporting, briefs, records and other documentation to support project delivery.
Working closely with internal and external stakeholders, including the Office of the Executive Director, the role assists with branch reporting and response requests, contributes to the development and implementation of administrative processes, maintains strong collaborative relationships across the branch and business unit, and undertakes other duties as directed by the branch leadership team.
Some of your duties will include:
- supporting the branch by providing administrative, coordination and project support across its core functions
- assisting in the governance of committees and advisory bodies related to the Gambling Harm Prevention and Response Model, including by scheduling meetings and taking minutes
- coordinating internal and external reporting activities and other documentation and records, including briefs, to support project delivery.

About you
To be successful in this role, you will have: experience in project management, administration and coordination of business processes.
Understanding of DJCS policies, procedures and systems is desirable.
