About us
Mark Lee Fish Farm is a South Australian aquaculture and wholesale seafood business based at Waterloo Corner. From our own farm and from trusted suppliers, we supply fresh and frozen seafood to wholesale customers, restaurants and our retail brand, Madam Seafood. Cold chain integrity is the heart of what we do — the quality our customers rely on is protected in our warehouse every single day.
The opportunity
We are looking for a reliable, hands-on Warehouse Operator to run the day-to-day flow of stock through our cold chain facility. You will be receiving and dispatching fresh and frozen seafood, keeping our stock records accurate to the piece, and making sure everything that passes through the warehouse is stored at the right temperature and handled to food safety standards.
This is a physical role in a cold environment, and it suits someone who takes pride in an orderly warehouse and accurate paperwork. A forklift licence and previous cold storage or seafood experience are a real advantage, but if you are fit, dependable and willing to learn, we will train you in our systems and procedures.
Your day-to-day responsibilities
Inbound & outbound operations
- Receiving: unloading incoming deliveries of frozen and fresh seafood, checking product against dockets, and inspecting quality, weight and temperature on arrival.
- Sorting & racking: grading and putting away stock into the correct cold room or freezer location so it can be found and rotated easily.
- Picking & dispatch: picking customer orders accurately, preparing them for dispatch, and loading vehicles so the cold chain is never broken.
Inventory control
- FIFO discipline: enforcing First-In, First-Out rotation so the oldest stock always moves first.
- Stock audits: carrying out regular cycle counts and stocktakes, and investigating and reporting any variances.
- Accuracy: keeping physical stock and system records matched — we aim for zero loss between the two.
Facility & temperature monitoring
- Temperature logs: monitoring and recording cold room and freezer temperatures, and escalating any reading outside range immediately.
- Food safety & hygiene: working to food safety and hygiene requirements at all times, including cleaning schedules and correct handling of raw product.
- Housekeeping: keeping the warehouse, cold rooms and loading area clean, tidy, organised and safe to work in.
Documentation & coordination
- Paperwork: checking and processing receiving and dispatch documents, invoices and delivery dockets.
- Daily logs: updating warehouse logs and reporting stock movements at the end of each shift.
- Teamwork: coordinating with the logistics manager, drivers and the processing team so orders leave on time.
What you'll bring to our team
- Physical fitness: comfortable working in cold storage and freezer environments, and with regular lifting and moving of stock.
- Attention to detail: careful with numbers, labels and paperwork — you notice when something does not add up.
- Reliability: punctual, responsible and someone the team can count on to finish the job properly.
- Teamwork: communicates well and works in with drivers, pickers and the office.
- Forklift licence (preferred): a current licence with practical driving experience is a strong advantage.
- Industry experience (preferred): previous work in cold storage, seafood, or perishable goods warehousing.
What it's like to work for us
- Stability: an ongoing part-time role with a long-established local business and genuine long-term job security.
- Training: full on-the-job training in our cold chain, food safety and stock systems.
- Team support: a friendly, hands-on team that helps each other with heavy and busy work.
- Facilities: on-site parking, employee discount on seafood.
- Busy seasons: we are very busy over the festive period, so additional hours may be available.
