About the Opportunity
AGC Interior is an Australian commercial interior design and fit out business developing its own AI assisted operating platform, Dotplan, together with internal automation and knowledge systems.
We are looking for a high potential graduate or junior technical generalist who can help turn real business and construction workflows into reliable digital systems.
This is not a conventional IT helpdesk role and it is not a pure software developer role.
You will work directly with management across AI assisted development, GitHub, testing, automation, workflow discovery, technical support and selected project site activities.
You will be expected to use modern AI coding tools such as Codex, Claude Code, Cursor or equivalent tools as part of a disciplined engineering process. We are looking for someone who can review, test and verify AI generated work rather than simply accepting generated code without validation.
What You Will Do
- Use AI coding agents to inspect repositories, plan changes, implement low risk improvements, review diffs, run tests and prepare pull requests.
- Support the ongoing development and testing of Dotplan, Vela, automation workflows and related internal systems.
- Reproduce issues, collect evidence, document findings and confirm expected behaviour before and after changes.
- Help map real business workflows across sales, projects, documents, site updates and internal operations.
- Attend AGC offices and selected Sydney project sites to observe workflows, capture progress photos, test mobile processes and support system rollouts.
- Assist with structured technical support across Google Workspace, AppSheet, n8n, GitHub and other authorised systems.
- Maintain clear technical documentation, test evidence, runbooks and handover notes.
- Identify repetitive or inefficient work that could be automated, simplified or removed.
- Help implement approved improvements safely and systematically.
What We Are Looking For
You do not need to know every part of our technology stack from day one. We are more interested in your ability to learn quickly, investigate problems properly and take ownership of your work.
You should have:
- Strong learning ability, curiosity and personal ownership.
- Working knowledge of Git and GitHub, including branches, commits, pull requests, merges and diffs.
- Practical experience with at least one AI coding tool such as Codex, Claude Code, Cursor or an equivalent tool, or the ability to demonstrate rapid mastery during assessment.
- Ability to read and modify code, use a terminal, interpret errors and understand basic API and data concepts.
- A disciplined approach to reviewing, testing and verifying AI generated changes.
- Clear written and verbal English communication.
- Willingness to work across software, automation, documentation, technical support and real operational workflows.
- Ability and willingness to attend Sydney offices and project sites as required.
- Valid Australian work rights suitable for full time employment.
Helpful but Not Essential
- A degree or near completed degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Information Technology, Information Systems, Data, Automation or a related field.
- A GitHub profile, portfolio, deployed project, automation or other evidence of building real technical solutions.
- Exposure to Next.js, TypeScript, Python, PostgreSQL, APIs, Vercel, n8n, Google Workspace or AppSheet.
- A current Australian driver licence and reliable ability to travel to project sites.
- A NSW White Card. This can be obtained before relevant construction site access if required.
- Mandarin communication skills may be useful for some internal collaboration but are not essential.

What Success Looks Like
First 30 days
Set up the approved development environment, demonstrate a safe Git workflow, understand core AGC and Dotplan systems, and complete supervised testing and documentation tasks.
By 90 days
Independently handle low risk system inspection, QA, bug reproduction, documentation and small branch based changes. Support office and site workflow discovery with reliable follow up.
By 6 months
Receive a business objective, inspect the relevant system, use AI agents appropriately, prepare a safe implementation, verify the outcome and return a concise decision ready summary with limited supervision.
Longer term
Develop toward an AI Systems & Automation Engineer role with increasing ownership of selected internal systems and workflows.
Working Conditions
This is a Sydney based role that includes regular office attendance and attendance at selected commercial fit out project sites.
Site activities may include:

- Digital evidence capture

- System rollout support
- User testing
Trade work is not expected.
Relevant inductions, PPE and a NSW White Card will be required before entering operational construction areas where applicable.

Candidates who progress will complete a structured phone screen followed by a practical GitHub and AI coding assessment using a sanitised, non production repository.
The assessment will focus on how you inspect, reason, use AI tools, review changes, test and verify results rather than how much code you can memorise.
