About The Role
Join our Country Health Connect team as a Rural Generalist Occupational Therapist, with an exciting opportunity to work within our sub-acute inpatient and community rehabilitation services in Mount Gambier.
You will join a dynamic, large and well-established Occupational Therapy team servicing the Limestone Coast region, working as part of a dedicated multidisciplinary rehabilitation team across a diverse range of clinical care pathways.
Based at Mount Gambier and Districts Health Service, one of South Australia’s largest regional hospitals, you will provide Occupational Therapy services within the inpatient rehabilitation program, as well as contribute to an established outpatient, community-based rehabilitation service. You will assess clients’ occupational abilities and needs, manage a varied rehabilitation caseload and plan and deliver evidence-based interventions to support independence, functional capacity and quality of life.
You will work closely with a broad multidisciplinary team including Occupational Therapists, Physiotherapists, Speech Pathologists, Social Workers, Dietitians, Allied Health Assistants, Rehabilitation Nursing staff, medical professionals and visiting specialists.
You will also be connected to a broader regional rehabilitation network, providing opportunities to collaborate with Occupational Therapists and rehabilitation professionals working across regional South Australia. Established technology and infrastructure also support contemporary telehealth service delivery.
While this position has a strong rehabilitation focus, there may also be opportunities to rotate through other inpatient and community Occupational Therapy programs and clinical areas, depending on your professional interests and service requirements.
You will work with increasing professional autonomy while being supported through clinical supervision, professional development and the experience of a large and established Occupational Therapy team.
About You
You are an Occupational Therapist with strong clinical skills and an interest in rehabilitation and multidisciplinary care. You bring sound professional judgement, a collaborative approach and a commitment to helping clients maximise their independence, functional capacity and participation.
To succeed in the Rural Generalist Occupational Therapist role, you will:
Hold an appropriate degree or equivalent qualification which entitles registration as an Occupational Therapist with the Occupational Therapy Board of Australia, and meet all requirements to obtain and maintain current AHPRA registration.
Apply developing generalist and/or specialist clinical knowledge and professional judgement to assess client needs and deliver appropriate Occupational Therapy interventions.
Demonstrate the ability to manage and prioritise a complex caseload and work effectively with increasing professional autonomy.
Work collaboratively within a multidisciplinary rehabilitation environment and communicate effectively with clients, families, carers, health professionals and community service providers.
Demonstrate a commitment to professional development, client-centred practice, quality improvement and the ongoing development and evaluation of Occupational Therapy and rehabilitation services.

Conditions of Employment
A current Nationally Coordinated Criminal History Check (NCCHC) for employment involving unsupervised contact with vulnerable groups is required for this position.
A satisfactory Working With Children Check (WWCC) is required.
A satisfactory NDIS Worker Screening Check is required.
A current driver’s licence is essential, along with a willingness to drive on country roads and travel as required.
Immunisation Risk for this position is – Category A (direct contact with blood or body substances).
