Build Your Career – Or Be Your Own Boss
Are you a qualified Motor Mechanic or Automotive Electrician looking for a role that offers independence, variety and the opportunity to help people when they need it most?
DEV MOTORS PTY LTD t/as AD Auto Care is seeking skilled, reliable and customer-focused Multiple Motor Mechanic (Roadside) to join our growing roadside assistance operations across Victoria.
We offer two opportunities depending on how you want to work:
1. Full-Time Employment – Join DEV MOTORS as a full-time Motor Mechanic (Roadside) with ongoing support and the opportunity to build a long-term career.
2. Operate Through Your Own Company – Be Your Own Boss – For suitably qualified candidates who want greater independence, there may be an opportunity to provide roadside assistance services through your own registered company (ACN/ABN), subject to applicable contractual and compliance requirements.
You will be part of a professional roadside assistance operation dedicated to helping stranded motorists get back on the road safely, efficiently and with exceptional customer service.
About the Role
As a Motor Mechanic (Roadside), you will work independently in the field, attending vehicle breakdowns and assisting motorists with a wide range of mechanical and electrical issues.
You will diagnose faults, perform roadside repairs where possible and provide professional advice and reassurance to customers.
This is an excellent opportunity for a self-motivated tradesperson who enjoys problem-solving, working independently, meeting different people and being out on the road rather than working in the same workshop every day.
What You’ll Do
Your responsibilities may include:
* Responding promptly and professionally to roadside assistance and vehicle breakdown calls.
* Diagnosing mechanical and electrical vehicle faults at the roadside.
* Diagnosing common breakdown issues including flat batteries, flat tyres, overheating and engine problems.
* Performing jump-starts and battery replacements.
* Changing tyres and assisting with tyre-related breakdowns.
* Assisting with vehicle lockouts where required and appropriately trained.
* Topping up essential fluids and carrying out minor or temporary roadside repairs.
* Using diagnostic equipment to assess modern vehicle systems.
* Conducting basic vehicle inspections and safety checks.
* Discussing vehicle problems with drivers to identify and diagnose faults.
* Advising customers on vehicle faults, repairs and maintenance requirements.
* Providing excellent customer service and reassuring motorists during stressful roadside situations.
* Maintaining accurate service records, job sheets and breakdown reports.
* Keeping your service vehicle appropriately stocked with required tools, equipment and replacement parts.
* Ensuring tools, equipment and vehicles are maintained in safe working condition.
* Managing your time effectively to respond efficiently to service calls.
* Working independently across different locations and varying shifts.
* Following all company, health and safety, environmental and regulatory requirements.
* Representing DEV MOTORS and our affiliated roadside/Auto Club partners professionally at all times.
What You’ll Need
To be considered for this opportunity, you should have:
* Qualified Motor Mechanic or Automotive Electrician credentials.
* Certificate III in Light Vehicle Mechanical Technology or an equivalent automotive qualification.
* Relevant hands-on automotive mechanical experience.
* Strong diagnostic and problem-solving abilities.
* Australian Driver’s Licence.
* Excellent communication and customer service skills.
* A genuine desire to assist people in emergency roadside situations.
* The ability and confidence to work independently in the field.
* A strong commitment to workplace health and safety.
* Flexibility to work varying shifts, including nights and weekends where required.
* Full working rights in Australia.
Previous roadside assistance or mobile/field-service experience is highly regarded but is not essential for the right experienced mechanic.
Full-Time Employment Opportunity
For candidates seeking the security of employment, DEV MOTORS offers the opportunity to join our team as a Full-Time Motor Mechanic (Roadside).
Depending on the position and agreed employment arrangements, benefits may include:
* Competitive remuneration plus superannuation.
* Service vehicle, tools and uniform.
* Training and ongoing operational support.
* Autonomous field-based work.
* Career development opportunities.
* The opportunity to work within a professional roadside assistance network.
Want to Be Your Own Boss?
Already have your own company, or interested in establishing one?
Suitably qualified and experienced mechanics may also have the opportunity to operate independently through their own registered company with an ACN/ABN and provide roadside assistance services under a contractor arrangement.
This pathway may suit experienced mechanics who want to run their own business, work independently and take greater control of their career, while providing roadside assistance services within an established operational network.
Applicants interested in this option must be willing and able to meet all applicable business registration, insurance, licensing, safety, contractual and compliance requirements.
Who We’re Looking For
We want people who are more than just good mechanics.
You’ll be dealing directly with customers who may be stranded, stressed or unsure about what has happened to their vehicle. You therefore need to be professional, calm, approachable and customer-focused.
If you are a qualified mechanic who enjoys independence, solving problems and helping people, we’d like to hear from you.
