Full Job Description

The role is accountable for ensuring effective work order management and department performance to achieve WesTrac’s targets of productivity and compliance to Caterpillar, customer and WesTrac requirements.

Location: Perth Precinct

Roster: 9 days on 5 days off 11.5 hours a day (including meal break)

Key responsibilities:

Lead and manage a highly capable and engaged team of technicians, fostering strong performance, collaboration, and consistent delivery of high-quality outcomes.
Lead by example, demonstrating organisational values and visible safety leadership to ensure safe, productive work practices.
Drive team performance by setting clear expectations, assigning work, monitoring progress and holding people accountable.
Adapt to change by communicating plans clearly, allocating resources effectively and ensuring consistent delivery.
Apply strategic thinking to minimise operational impacts on the environment and community.
Demonstrate strong commercial, technical and customer focus by meeting budget requirements, coordinating customer needs end‑to‑end and maintaining productive stakeholder relationships.

Requirements for the role:

Heavy Diesel Mechanic Trade or similar discipline
2+ years supervision experience in a similar position (diploma certified preferred)
Direct experience in heavy mobile equipment (Caterpillar preferred) maintenance and OH&S and risk assessment requirements
Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to give clear direction in high‑risk environments
Proven organisational capability and experience managing competing priorities in dynamic settings
Advanced analytical, troubleshooting and continuous‑improvement skills
Demonstrated ability to build effective stakeholder relationships and exceed customer expectations
