Role Summary
The Finance Operations and Systems Lead will be responsible for optimising the company’s finance technology ecosystem, and processes, ensuring the organisation fully leverages modern finance platforms to support a rapidly scaling business. The role focuses on finance process automation, strengthening integrations between systems, and ensuring the finance team operates on efficient, scalable platforms.
While this is fundamentally a finance systems and technology role, the ideal candidate will bring a broad background across finance operations, process improvement and systems transformation. They will possess a strong understanding of financial controls, governance and risk management, combined with the ability to translate operational requirements into practical technology solutions. This is not a traditional systems role; success requires a deep appreciation of finance processes, a clear understanding of desired business outcomes, and the ability to identify and implement more effective ways of working across the finance function.
Key Responsibilities
System Administration and Optimisation
- Own the ongoing optimisation and administration of the company’s core ERP platform, Oracle NetSuite, ensuring the business continues to maximise value from the system as it scales.
- Improve workflows, automation, reporting capability, and system configuration.
- Partner with finance users to identify inefficiencies and implement improvements across finance processes.
- Manage the broader finance systems landscape connected to our ERP platform, which may include:
- procurement and expense tools
- billing platforms (AP and AR)
- cost project management tools
- Ensure systems operate as an integrated ecosystem rather than isolated tools.
- Be responsible for maintaining a finance technology improvements
Finance Operations Automation
- Lead initiatives to improve the control environment through both process and system change
- Lead the identification, design and implementation of automation opportunities across the end-to-end finance function, driving greater efficiency, accuracy and scalability of finance operations.
- Drive automation initiatives across key finance processes including:
- Procure-to-Pay (P2P) – vendor onboarding, purchase requisitions, approvals, invoice processing, payment workflows and spend management.
- Record-to-Report (R2R) – reconciliations, journal processing, period-end close activities, intercompany accounting, consolidations and financial reporting.
- Capital Expenditure and Asset Management – procurement approvals, asset capitalisation, fixed asset accounting, depreciation management and project-to-asset transitions.
- Reporting and Consolidation – management reporting, board reporting, statutory reporting, data aggregation and group consolidation processes.
- Reduce reliance on manual processes, offline workarounds and spreadsheet-based controls by embedding automation, workflow approvals and system-driven controls across finance operations.
- Evaluate emerging technologies, including AI-enabled finance tools, to identify opportunities to streamline processes, enhance reporting capabilities and improve decision-making.
Skills & Experience
- 7–12+ years experience in finance systems, finance operations, or finance transformation roles
- Proven experience transforming finance processes and systems
- Experience working with multiple finance platforms connected to an ERP
- Experience with system implementations, ideally in a high growth environment
- Great communication skills, and an ability to influence
- Strong prioritization skills, and ability to manage multiple projects simultaneousl
- Systems thinker with strong process design skills
- Ability to translate finance requirements into system solutions
- Strong collaboration with engineering and data teams
- Comfortable operating in a fast-scaling technology company
The Ideal Candidate:
- Part of Finance systems teams in high-growth technology companies
- ERP implementation or optimisation roles
- Finance transformation consulting (Big 4 or consulting firms)
- Finance technology roles supporting scaling businesses
Accounting qualifications are not required, but familiarity with finance processes is important.
