The Role
Lead and manage the Geology team at Phosphate Hill Mine, ensuring effective grade control, resource management, geological services and geotechnical oversight are delivered safely and in full support of mining operations. Reporting to the Technical Services Superintendent, you will play a key leadership role in optimising resource utilisation, supporting mine planning activities and providing expert geological advice that enables safe and efficient mining outcomes.
Key responsibilities include:
Leading all geology and geotechnical functions across site, including the preparation of the annual Mineral Resource block model and JORC-compliant Mineral Resource Estimate
Planning, managing and overseeing grade control and exploration drilling programs, ensuring high-quality data collection, cost efficiency and operational excellence
Acting as the primary geological and geotechnical advisor to operational and technical stakeholders across site
Managing external drilling, analytical and geotechnical consultants and service providers to achieve safety, quality and budget objectives
Maintaining geological databases, resource models, reporting systems and data integrity standards
Providing leadership, coaching and development to the geology team while supporting succession planning and capability growth
Partnering closely with mine planning, survey, operations and processing teams to maximise resource value and support business objectives
Contributing to continuous improvement initiatives across geology, resource management and mine planning functions
What you'll bring
We're looking for an experienced geology leader who can combine technical expertise, people leadership and stakeholder management to support safe, efficient and sustainable mining outcomes while influencing mine planning, resource utilisation and operational performance.
To be successful in this role, you will have:
A commitment to positively contributing to our safe, inclusive and high-performance culture
Bachelor of Science (Geology) or equivalent tertiary qualification
Extensive experience within open pit mining environments, including grade control, resource management and drilling programs
Demonstrated expertise in preparing JORC-compliant Mineral Resource Estimates
Strong leadership capability with experience leading, mentoring and developing geology teams
Proven ability to build relationships and influence outcomes across technical, operational and contractor stakeholder groups
Sound understanding of geotechnical management principles and their application within mining operations
Class C manual driver's licence
High level computer literacy including Datamine, acQuire, SAP Business Systems and the Microsoft Office Suite
Mine Site Safety Supervisor competencies (G1, G8 and G9) or the ability to obtain them

The Site
Northern Australian Operations consists of an Ammonium Phosphate Mine and Processing Plant (Phosphate Hill) and Sulphuric Plant (Mt Isa) in North Queensland. The facilities comprise of ammonia, beneficiation, phosphoric acid, granulation and sulphuric acid plants plus infrastructure, utilities, power generation and housing to support the permanent workforce.
