About the Role
We're currently looking for an experienced Senior or Lead Payroll Test Consultant to join a major enterprise transformation program. This is a key leadership role within the testing team, responsible for taking ownership of Parallel Payroll Testing (PPRT) and driving the planning, preparation and execution of payroll testing activities.
You'll work closely with payroll SMEs, business stakeholders and project teams to develop the PPRT approach, perform detailed test analysis, and ensure payroll outcomes are validated accurately throughout the program.
This role is ideal for someone with extensive payroll testing experience who has previously led Parallel Payroll Testing activities on large-scale payroll transformation projects.
What You’ll Do
- Take ownership of Parallel Payroll Testing (PPRT) planning, preparation and execution.
- Lead payroll test analysis, planning and estimation activities.
- Develop the PPRT strategy, approach, schedules and supporting test artefacts.
- Define payroll test scenarios and ensure comprehensive coverage of payroll processes and legislative requirements.
- Work closely with Payroll SMEs and business stakeholders to validate payroll outcomes and investigate discrepancies.
- Coordinate payroll test cycles, defect management, re-testing and sign-off activities.
- Analyse payroll calculations, variances and exceptions between legacy and target systems.
- Provide leadership and guidance to the wider testing team across payroll testing activities.
Collaborate with project, business and technology teams to ensure successful delivery of payroll testing milestones.

What We’re Looking For
- Extensive experience as a Senior Payroll Tester or Payroll Test Lead on large transformation programs.
- Proven experience leading Parallel Payroll Testing (PPRT) from planning through to execution.
- Strong payroll domain knowledge with the ability to analyse complex payroll calculations and identify variances.
- Experience developing payroll test strategies, test plans, scenarios and execution schedules.
- Strong background in payroll functional testing and end-to-end payroll validation.
- Excellent stakeholder management skills with experience working closely with Payroll, HR, Business and Technology teams.
- Ability to lead workshops, facilitate discussions and drive testing outcomes.
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with a meticulous attention to detail.

Nice To Have
- Experience working on large enterprise HRIS or payroll transformation programs.
- Exposure to payroll platforms such as UKG, Dayforce, SAP Payroll, Workday Payroll, Oracle Payroll or Chris21.
- Experience using test management tools such as JIRA, ALM or Azure DevOps.
Previous consulting or client-facing experience.
