Job Description
About the Role
We are seeking a motivated and customer-focused Junior Network Engineer to join our IT Infrastructure team. This role is ideal for an early-career networking professional who is passionate about technology, enjoys problem-solving, and has strong stakeholder engagement skills.
The successful candidate will support network operations, system provisioning, patch management, incident resolution, and infrastructure maintenance while working closely with internal stakeholders to understand business requirements and deliver effective technology solutions.
Key Responsibilities
Network Support & Operations

Provide first and second-level support for network infrastructure, systems, and end-user connectivity issues.

Monitor network performance and assist in maintaining network availability and reliability.

Troubleshoot and resolve network, hardware, and connectivity issues in a timely manner.

Assist with network device configuration, upgrades, and maintenance activities.
-
Support LAN, WAN, Wi-Fi, VPN, and related network technologies.
System Provisioning & Administration
-
Perform user account provisioning and deprovisioning across various systems and platforms.
-
Configure and maintain access permissions in line with security and compliance requirements.
-
Assist with onboarding new users and provisioning required hardware and software.
-
Maintain accurate records of system configurations and user access.
Patching & Maintenance
-
Support operating system and network device patching activities.
-
Assist with scheduled maintenance and upgrade projects.
-
Validate successful deployment of patches and system updates.
-
Identify and escalate potential vulnerabilities or security risks.
Incident Management & Documentation
-
Log, track, and update incidents, service requests, and changes through the ticketing system.

Investigate root causes of recurring technical issues and recommend improvements.
-
Maintain accurate technical documentation, procedures, and knowledge base articles.
-
Ensure all activities are properly documented and comply with operational standards.
Stakeholder Engagement
-
Engage with internal stakeholders to understand business needs and technical requirements.

Communicate technical information to both technical and non-technical audiences.

Provide excellent customer service and maintain strong working relationships across the business.

Collaborate with vendors and third-party support providers when required.
Continuous Improvement
-
Contribute to infrastructure improvement initiatives and technology projects.

Identify opportunities to enhance operational efficiency and user experience.

Stay current with emerging networking technologies and industry best practices.
Additional Requirements

Willingness and ability to undertake occasional interstate travel, primarily to Perth, to support business and operational requirements.

Valid Australian working rights and the ability to travel as required.
Qualifications
Required
-
1-3 years of experience in a Network Support, Service Desk, IT Support, or Junior Network Engineering role.
-
Fundamental understanding of networking concepts including TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, VLANs, VPNs, and routing/switching.

Experience with ticketing and incident management systems.
-
Knowledge of Windows environments and Active Directory administration.
-
Experience supporting user provisioning and access management processes.
-
Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
-
Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
-
Strong customer service and stakeholder management capabilities.
Desirable
-
Exposure to Cisco, Fortinet, Aruba, Juniper, or similar networking technologies.

Knowledge of Microsoft 365 and cloud platforms such as Azure.

Understanding of ITIL processes and service management principles.

Industry certifications such as CCNA, Network+, or equivalent.

Experience with network monitoring tools.
