Sales Representative – Used Forklifts & Material Handling Equipment

Location: Outer Eastern Suburbs, Melbourne
Work Type: Full-Time
Package: Base Salary + Uncapped Generous Commission + Company Phone

About the Role

Are you a proven sales professional who excels at closing deals but hates spending half your day cold calling?

We are a leading material handling supplier in Melbourne’s Outer East, and due to strong demand, we are looking for a Used Forklift Sales Representative to manage our influx of incoming inquiries.

In this role, you’ll be handed warm, qualified leads from businesses actively looking to purchase or upgrade their lifting equipment. Your job is simple: understand their operational needs, match them with the right reconditioned or used machinery, and close the sale.

Key Responsibilities

Respond promptly to incoming inbound leads, web inquiries, and phone calls.
Conduct quick on-site or over-the-phone site assessments to recommend the right used forklift or lifting solution.
Prepare clear, accurate quotes and manage the sales process from initial inquiry to delivery.
Build strong rapport with returning local industrial, logistics, and manufacturing clients.
Meet with customers in person at our premises to demonstrate function and features of machines.

What We’re Looking For

Proven Sales Track Record: Experience in capital equipment, automotive, machinery, or industrial sales (material handling experience is a big plus, but not essential). Other sales experience would be considered for the right applicant. A working knowledge of forklifts would be an advantage, but training is available.
Closing Ability: Outstanding negotiation skills with a focus on consultative, solution-based selling.
Tech-Savvy & Responsive: Comfortable using modern sales tools and staying connected through communication platforms(phone supplied).

We're looking for a Sales Representative to manage and grow relationships with our industrial and commercial clients. This role involves understanding a client's operational requirements — load capacity, mast height, fuel or power type, site conditions — and recommending the right forklift, attachment or materials handling solution from our range. You'll be engaging directly with business owners, warehouse managers, logistics coordinators and procurement teams, visiting industrial sites and business premises to assess needs and close sales.

What You'll Be Doing

Compiling and building lists of prospective business clients across relevant industries
Maintaining up-to-date knowledge of our equipment range, competitor products and market conditions
Visiting client and prospective client businesses to identify and act on selling opportunities
Assessing each business's operational needs and recommending suitable equipment
Quoting and negotiating prices, credit terms and finalising contracts
Arranging equipment delivery and coordinating with our service team on installation or handover
Monitoring clients' changing needs and reporting market developments to management
Following up with clients post-sale to ensure satisfaction and resolve any issues
Preparing sales reports and maintaining accurate records of client activity and expenses

What We're Looking For

A Bachelor degree in a relevant field (business, engineering, marketing or similar
At least 3 years of experience in selling machinery, industrial equipment or technical products to business clients
A current driver's licence and reliable vehicle, with flexibility to travel to client sites regularly
Strong negotiation and relationship-building skills within a technical sales environment
Ability to understand and communicate technical product specifications to business clients
Self-motivated and comfortable managing an independent client pipeline

Pay: $80,000.00 – $120,000.00 per year
