About the job
The Platform Engineer is a core member of the Cloud Platform squad, a small, focused team responsible for the infrastructure and tooling that Orygen Digital's engineering teams build on. This role brings a platform product mindset to the work, treating internal teams as the customers of the platform and codifying good patterns so the right thing is also the easy thing.
Reporting to the Engineering Manager you will:
- Build and evolve our cloud platform by owning Infrastructure as Code (AWS CDK/TypeScript), cloud infrastructure across AWS and GCP, and the platforms that power our digital products and services.
- Enable engineering teams to deliver faster by designing and maintaining secure, scalable CI/CD pipelines, self-service tooling, and developer platforms that improve reliability and deployment quality.
- Champion security, reliability, and compliance by embedding DevSecOps practices, strengthening cloud security, supporting accreditation requirements, and enhancing observability across the platform.
- Collaborate across multidisciplinary teams to understand infrastructure needs, support researchers and engineers, and ensure platform capabilities align with product, data, AI/ML, governance, and privacy requirements.
- Shape our engineering practices by contributing to architecture decisions, setting platform and CI/CD standards, sharing technical knowledge, and driving continuous improvement across the engineering organisation.
Skills and experience
The following criteria must be met for consideration for this position:
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering or related field.
- Proven Platform, Cloud, or DevOps engineering experience with AWS infrastructure and developer enablement.
- Strong AWS CDK (TypeScript) expertise, plus CI/CD, Infrastructure as Code, and cloud automation.
- Experience with AWS services, security best practices, IAM, containers, and AI/ML platform infrastructure.
- Knowledge of GCP, compliance, observability, performance optimisation, and resilient cloud platform design.
