About CorePlan
CorePlan is a Perth, Western Australia based tech startup shaking up the mining industry with a modern digital SaaS drilling management platform. We replace paper and spreadsheets with a seamless solution used by customers worldwide. Our mission is to advance digital drilling operations across mining, and our momentum is strong. We are a high-performing team of self-starters building the next generation of mining software, and we are expanding internationally.
The Role
This role is a hybrid role, and we are looking for candidates based in Perth, Australia or Vancouver, Canada. We are not accepting applications from elsewhere at this stage.
In a nutshell, this is a software engineering role. Some might call it an “Integration Engineer” but the nature of the work is what's now widely known as forward-deployed engineering: strong, production-grade software engineering applied directly inside a customer's environment.
This role is 50% engineering and 50% customer-facing. You'll spend time writing, testing, and reviewing code - architecting and building production integrations, not configuring templates or filling in someone else's spec. The customer-facing half of the role matters just as much: you'll be the person who can sit with a customer's operations team, understand what's actually happening in their systems, and dive into building a working integration to solve their needs.
We're looking for someone who has been through enough integrations to know what breaks at the code level, and enough customer conversations to know how to prevent it before it ships.
Tech stack: Python, SQL, RESTful APIs, OAuth, JSON, event-driven and file-based pipelines. Exposure to AWS/Azure and Snowflake is a plus. The role may involve occasional travel to customer sites.
What You'll Do
Design, build, and ship production-grade integrations end-to-end - architecture, code, tests, and deployment - using CorePlan APIs, events, and data platforms, with a strong focus on data validity, traceability, and auditability.
Own end-to-end delivery of customer and partner integrations - from discovery and technical design through to go-live and ongoing production support.
Translate customer operational workflows (planning, drilling, dispatch, billing, GIS, etc.) into clear technical requirements and build reusable, configurable, maintainable integration patterns and solutions.
Work directly with customers and partners during discovery, testing, and go-live - you are the technical face of the integration. What you learn in customer delivery shapes CorePlan's integration architecture and influences product direction.
Collaborate with Product and Engineering to protect core product boundaries and shape how integration patterns scale across customers.
Reduce escalation load and build documentation and standards that make the team's integrations supportable, not just deliverable.
What You'll Bring
Essential
Strong software engineering fundamentals - you can architect, write, test, and ship production-quality code yourself, not just wire together pre-built connectors or configuration.
5+ years of career experience in software engineering, data engineering or similar. Customer facing experience is desirable but not required.
Demonstrated experience building and supporting production integrations - APIs, webhooks, event-driven architectures, file-based pipelines, or data platforms.
Strong Python and SQL; comfortable reasoning about data quality, transformation, and pipeline design at the code level, not just conceptually.
Solid understanding of RESTful API design, OAuth authentication, and working with JSON and relational databases.
Real experience working directly with enterprise customers - gathering requirements, managing expectations, and explaining technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders.
A pragmatic, delivery-focused mindset: you can operate with partial requirements, solve problems, develop solutions safely, and get things done without waiting for perfect conditions.
Well-developed habits of using AI tools to accelerate your coding, learning, and problem-solving - this is how we work.
Highly Desirable
Experience in mining, drilling, construction, logistics, or another operationally complex industry - or a clearly demonstrated aptitude and appetite to become conversant in mining quickly. You understand, or can rapidly learn, what's at stake when data is wrong.
Familiarity with enterprise or operational systems: ERPs, GIS platforms, hardware sensors, drilling management software.
Experience in a SaaS environment where integrations are customer-critical and on-call is real.
Exposure to cloud platforms (AWS or Azure) and data warehousing tools (e.g. Snowflake).
