Are you a senior full-stack engineer who wants to lead the design and delivery of end-to-end applications powered by Generative AI and autonomous agents? Are you interested in shaping how the largest and most innovative companies in Australia and New Zealand build their next generation of digital products? Come join Amazon Web Services (AWS) Professional Services as a Senior Agentic AI Full Stack Software Development Engineer. AWS Professional Services helps millions of businesses in 150+ countries transform their operations and applications using the power of AWS. This is an opportunity to own the most complex technical problems across diverse technologies, from modern frontends to cloud-native backends to the latest AI services, and to set the technical direction that shapes customer outcomes.
We are seeking a senior, hands-on Software Development Engineer with deep software engineering, Generative AI, and cloud architecture expertise to lead complex technical engagements within AWS Professional Services. You bring the technical depth to work with the most demanding architectures and code, the judgment to make sound decisions under ambiguity, and the curiosity to invent on behalf of our customers using AWS services. You develop using agentic tools and services, and you set the standard for how teams adopt AI-powered coding assistants, agentic IDEs, and AI-driven development workflows. You design and orchestrate AI agents, work with the latest protocols and frameworks, and architect autonomous systems using services like Amazon Bedrock. You work directly with customer engineering and leadership teams to deliver innovative AWS solutions, driving successful outcomes while raising the bar for quality, security, and engineering excellence.
Key job responsibilities
Own Complex Technical Delivery: Take end-to-end ownership of the largest and most ambiguous problems in an engagement. Define the architecture, break down the work across teams, and deliver cloud-native solutions on AWS that modernize applications and build resilient, distributed, event-driven systems.
Set Technical Direction: Lead architectural decisions across multiple workstreams and teams. Establish engineering standards, patterns, and guardrails that others build on, and make deliberate tradeoffs across performance, cost, security, and time-to-value.
Architect GenAI Solutions: Lead the design of production applications powered by generative AI, including RAG pipelines, LLM-backed features, and conversational interfaces on services like Amazon Bedrock. Set the approach for prompt engineering, grounding, evaluation, and guardrails to deliver accurate, secure, and cost-effective outcomes at scale.
Lead Agentic Systems Design: Architect AI agent and multi-agent systems using emerging protocols (e.g., MCP, A2A) and orchestration frameworks. Drive the reference patterns and reusable components that let teams build autonomous workflows reliably.
Champion the Agentic Way: Set the standard for AI-assisted engineering. Introduce and scale AI-powered coding assistants and agentic IDEs across teams to accelerate coding, testing, code review, and delivery without compromising quality.
Own Quality and Operational Excellence: Be accountable for the operational health of what your teams ship. Drive testing strategy, security, observability, and production readiness, and hold the bar on maintainable, well-tested code.
Grow Engineers and Influence Stakeholders: Mentor and grow engineers, including senior engineers, through code reviews, design reviews, and hands-on guidance. Influence senior customer and partner stakeholders on engineering strategy, and leave every team more capable than you found it.
A day in the life
As a Senior Agentic AI Full Stack SDE, you operate as a technical leader within customer delivery teams, owning the problems that carry the most ambiguity and impact. A typical day moves between shaping architecture and technical strategy, making decisions that unblock multiple teams, and staying hands-on in the code across frontend, backend, and generative AI and agentic capabilities on AWS. You set the direction for how teams adopt AI-powered development tools and agentic workflows to deliver faster while holding a high quality bar.
You lead design and code reviews, establish the engineering standards teams build on, and mentor engineers at all levels to raise their capabilities. You partner with architects, product stakeholders, and customer leadership to align on strategy, remove technical risk early, and keep complex engagements moving toward measurable outcomes. Your focus is consistent: delivering secure, production-ready software and durable technical patterns that create lasting value well beyond the current engagement.
