About the role:
Our Infection Prevention & Control (IPC) team is seeking an experienced infection control nurse for a permanent full time /permanent part time position. The role will be reporting to the Infection Prevention Control (IPC) Manager, you will join a team dedicated to the infection surveillance, prevention and control program in our high acuity hospital.

While we are at the heart of private cardiac services in our state, with 224 beds, we bring the same clinical excellence to other specialities such as orthopaedics, neurosurgery, vascular surgery, and general surgery.
Key responsibilities:
Assist with end-to-end IPC processes
Promote safe, effective Infection Prevention Control practices
Coach, guide and educate staff in best practice
Participate and coordinate case review investigations
Preparation of reports

Ensure patient and staff safety

Work closely with clinical teams across the hospital to identify and manage healthcare-associated infections and support the implementation of transmission-minimising strategies

Coordinating daily Infection Prevention and Control service activities, including auditing and targeted surveillance of healthcare-associated infections.
Essential Criteria:

Experienced Infection Prevention and Control Nurse who has an excellent understanding of IPC guidelines, standards and requirements for healthcare settings

Demonstrated ability who enjoys working in a fast environment

Excellent attention to detail and a strong advocate for embedding best practice

Execeptional communication skills, presentation and interpersonal skills, with the ability to effectively influence, engage and collaborate with internal stakeholders

Demonstrated analytical skills, including data collection, interpretation, and reporting, with a commitment to driving continuous improvement and maintaining the highest standards of infection prevention and control practices

Hold AHPRA registration (essential)

Have excellent knowledge of IPC Programs

Strong attention to detail

Sound computer literacy in Microsoft Office Suite and database management
Mandatory:
-
Registration as a Registered Nurse with the Nursing and Midwifery Board of Australia (NMBA) is required for this role

Completed or currently working towards postgraduate studies or courses relevant to IPC. For e.g. Post Graduate Certificate or Master in Infection Prevention and Control or Australasian College of Infection Prevention and Control (ACIPC) Foundations Course
Desirable:

Registered Nurse Immuniser (or evidence of currently working towards achievement)

Hand Hygiene - Standard Auditor
