About the Role
An exciting opportunity exists for a skilled Electronic Field Service Technician to join our growing technical team based in Clayton, Victoria.
This permanent full-time position involves both workshop-based manufacturing and testing together with installation, commissioning, servicing and maintenance of electronic equipment and control systems.
Key Responsibilities
The successful applicant will be responsible for, but not limited to:
- Install, commission, maintain, calibrate and repair electronic control, instrumentation and LED display systems.
- Perform SMD soldering, PCB assembly and component-level repairs of electronic equipment.
- Diagnose and troubleshoot faults in electronic equipment using specialised testing equipment, multimeters, oscilloscopes, circuit diagrams and technical manuals.
- Conduct preventative maintenance, calibration and functional testing of electronic systems.
- Assemble, wire and test electronic control systems and subassemblies.
- Perform quality assurance inspections and operational validation of finished products.
- Debug electronic hardware and identify component failures.
- Repair or replace defective electronic components, wiring and assemblies.
- Interpret electronic schematics, wiring diagrams and technical drawings.
- Maintain accurate service reports, calibration records and production documentation.
- Collaborate with engineering and production teams to improve product reliability and manufacturing efficiency.
- Provide technical support and guidance to customers regarding the safe operation of electronic equipment.
- Attend customer sites when required to undertake installation, commissioning, maintenance and repair of electronic systems.
- Ensure compliance with company quality standards, workplace safety requirements and Australian industry standards.
Skills & Experience
Applicants should possess:
- Certificate III or higher qualification in Electronics, Electronic Engineering, Telecommunications or a closely related qualification.
- Demonstrated experience installing, servicing, repairing or manufacturing electronic equipment.
- Experience with SMD soldering, PCB assembly and electronic component replacement.
- Strong fault-finding and diagnostic skills.
- Experience using electronic test equipment including multimeters, oscilloscopes and other diagnostic instruments.
- Ability to read and interpret electronic schematics, wiring diagrams and technical documentation.
- Good computer literacy, including Microsoft Office applications.
- Excellent communication skills and attention to detail.
- Current Australian Driver Licence.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a professional technical team.
