Library Officer - Heyfield

Part Time ongoing (0.63 EFT)
44 hours per fortnight including after hours and Saturdays on a rotational system.
Band 4 $72,010 - $75,577 pro rata per annum, plus 12% statutory superannuation

In this varied role, you'll deliver high-quality customer service and community programs, maintain collections and oversee day-to-day library operations, helping deliver a welcoming and engaging library experience.
As part of the team, you'll participate in a roster system that includes regular Saturday shifts and occasional work outside normal business hours.
This position is primarily based at Heyfield Library but may be required to work across other Wellington Shire library facilities as needed.

In this role, you will
- Provide friendly and professional customer service, assisting library users with information, resources, technology and library services.
- Support day-to-day library operations, including memberships, loans, returns, reservations, shelving and collection presentation.
- Deliver a range of engaging community programs and activities with enthusiasm, to actively encourage learning, literacy and community participation. This includes weekly Storytime sessions.
- Assist with the maintenance and development of library collections, including processing new items and providing collection recommendations.
- Promote library services and support users to confidently access digital resources, technology and online information.
- Undertake administrative tasks that support library operations, collections, programming and community engagement activities.
- Contribute to a welcoming, inclusive and well-presented library environment.
- Work collaboratively with colleagues, community groups and library users to create positive library experiences and deliver service outcomes.
About You
You are passionate about the role libraries play in supporting literacy, lifelong learning and community connection. You bring experience in library services or a similar customer-focused environment and enjoy helping people access information, resources and technology.
You will bring:
- Experience working in library services, with an understanding of library systems, processes and customer service delivery.
- Confidence and enthusiasm to engage children, families and community members through library programs and activities, including Storytime.
- Strong communication and problem-solving skills, with the ability to assist a diverse range of library users.
- A genuine interest in literacy, learning and community connection.
- Confidence supporting people to access technology, digital resources and online services.
- Well-developed organisational skills and the ability to manage a variety of tasks and priorities.
- A collaborative approach and willingness to contribute across customer service, collections, programs and library operations.
- Proficiency in Microsoft 365 and the ability to learn and use library management systems.
