About the role
We are seeking a Development Engineer to play a pivotal role in guiding the delivery of sustainable, high-quality infrastructure outcomes across the City.
Reporting to the Team Leader Infrastructure Development, you will provide expert civil engineering advice on planning and development proposals, as well as third-party projects that may impact the City's infrastructure network. Your expertise will help ensure development outcomes align with strategic objectives, engineering best practice, and the long-term needs of the community.

About you
You are a qualified and motivated civil engineering professional with experience in development assessment, infrastructure planning, or municipal engineering. You possess strong technical knowledge and the ability to analyse complex engineering proposals, providing practical and commercially sound recommendations that balance development outcomes with the City's long-term infrastructure needs.
With excellent communication and stakeholder management skills, you build effective working relationships with developers, consultants, government agencies, and internal teams. You are detail-oriented, solutions-focused, and confident in interpreting engineering standards, policies, and legislation.
You thrive in a collaborative environment, take a proactive approach to problem-solving, and are committed to delivering sustainable infrastructure outcomes that support the growth and development of the community.
What your experience might look like:
- Tertiary qualifications in Civil Engineering with at least 2 years relevant experience government or related field
- Demonstrated experience and abilities in the review and assessment of applications submitted by external stakeholders relating to infrastructure development including site inspections
- Demonstrated understanding of civil construction and experience applying engineering standards and asset management.
- Demonstrated ability to complete applications relating to infrastructure development including site inspections and documentation to the necessary standard in an efficient manner.
- High level of written and verbal communication skills
